It doesn't make sense. He joined the Rebellion because an ancient ship didn't work? Also going by NuCanon Mandalorians haven't been a fully warlike society for years. For information on that watch Star Wars: The Clone wars which [i]is[/i] canon. Though of course there are still those who follow the warriors ways it is unlikely you would get exiled from the planet. 

I mean going against the Empire as it was a Sith ship.... nobody even knows the Emperor is a Sith besides Yoda, Obi-Wan, Vader, Antilles and Organa. Vader people don't know what he is, some think he's a Jedi gone rogue, others think he's the Emperors own version of Grevious.
