Character Name: Molly Ashmole-Hakim Character Age: 32 Character Gender: Female Character Augmentations: Molly was born partially deaf in her right ear and became accustomed to wearing a hearing aid from a young age. Upon reaching her teenage years her family opted to have her fitted with an artifical Cochlea as well as an Aurcile Frame to help improve signal transduction, gradually increasing the function of the Organ of Corti. Today, Molly has a balanced and dependable range of hearing, although her augmentation can occasionally lapse due to its long-term use, as well as being an outdated model. Molly has plans to look into more recent models when she returns to planet. Character Appearance: Built short, slim-framed and with only the slightest cord of muscle, Molly is not especially suited for heavy-lifting or exacting physical force. Her posture is more or less permanently hunched forward, too used to being leaned over a desk or dashboard, peering at a screen or working a transmitter. Her eyes are blue and sit above heavy eyebags and between a small nose that crooks to the left. She has short, curly dark-red hair with strands of grey weaved through as the first signs of steadily approaching age. Character Employment Role: Communications Officer, previously the second comms technician on the Station, but temporarily promoted to first upon the departure of her superior. As such, Molly, and a small team (of npcs) are responsible for maintaining communications on the station for the duration of two weeks. In addition to this, Molly is responsible for archiving the stations observation patterns, for the purpose of condensing any progress and results and sending them to Corporate. Character's Brief History: A turn of the century child, Molly Ashmole was born in New Aberdeen in December 2699, to Sophie and Jonathan Ashmole, a pair of civil servants primarily tasked with tax collection and maintaining revenue reports. As such, Molly grew up in a comfortable and mundane household of numbers and order and, asides from her hearing loss and her subsequent augumentation, never experienced anything that distrupted from this perfectly ordinary life. Molly left School with high marks and, interested in languages, pursued a degree in Linquistics at University, advancing onto a Masters in Technical Communications. Whilst doing her Masters degree, she met her future Wife Nadereh, the two becoming engaged shortly before Molly become employed by Overtech Corporation as a Switchboard Technician, and married upon Molly's successful return from her first off-planet post in Practical Communications. Though she had originally sworn not to take on a contract that included a duration of more than six months, Molly was flattered enough by being personally recommended for placement on the Miasma station by First Communications Officer Derrik Edlund, that she accepted the placement with fairly little deliberation, calming her Wifes concerns, citing that the steady, increased income would help them save enough money to eventually start a family. Notes: Since you didn't say that Overtech was based in any one country I'm going on the assumption that Overtech is an international organisation. However if it is based in a specific location, are the companies origins solely linked to one geographical location, or is it a multinational conglomorate, similar to Weyland-Yutani? I'm just asking this since my character is specialised in linquistics and communications, I was wondering if there are any compulsury languages she's had to learn? At the moment I'm tentatively listing her as fluent in three languages, English, French and Mandarin, so for the purpose of both character building and world building please let me know if any of these languages are extinct by this point.
