Finally finished my character. Will probably have an IC up before I go to bed.
Character sheet: Name – Aldred Mermet Race – Human Gender – Male Age – 34 Appearance – Height – 6’3 Weight – 230 pounds Class – Warrior Skills – Aldred is a master swordsman, able to take down even the toughest of foes with his sword. He is also a skilled tactician, able to lay down battle plans with the best of them. Aldred is a very capable hand to hand combatant, knowing many ways to take down a man in personal combat. Powers – N/A Weaponry – He wields a steel great sword, which he named Echo, a powerful weapon which must be used with two hands. He keeps a steel dagger on his belt as well. Other equipment – He keeps a leather drawstring pouch on himself at all times inside it contains a canteen full of fresh water, three apples, a coin purse carrying forty coins, a bedroll, set of civilian clothes, compass and a whetstone. Apparel – Aldred wears thick iron armor, it is the same kind worn by the Dominion Vanguard, though he is much more weathered, carrying dents and scars on it which he takes pride in, able to explain where many of them came from. Despite the size and weight of the armor, he moves deceptively quick in it, used to wearing heavy suits of armor ever since he could wield a sword. In more casual settings, he favors a simple grey longsleeved shirt, brown pants and boots which he keeps in his bag. Personality – Aldred is a proud warrior who is not afraid to speak his mind. He will openly criticize other people if they are out of line or doing something completely wrong, but does it in a way that it is actual criticism, not him being an asshole. He is confident in his own abilities as a swordsman and will assume leadership if nobody else is willing. He pursues what he is after until he gets it, doing whatever it takes to achieve his goals. There is still an air of good heartedness to him, as he finds immoral things such as slavery or murder sickening. He does not care much for his possessions beyond his sword and armor, and will give to the less fortunate when asked. Bio – Aldred Mermet was born in the city of Esminster, his childhood is nothing special. His father was a guard in the city, his mother a nurse. Like many other children, he spent his early years in school, after finishing school at sixteen, he immediately joined the military at the earliest point he could after securing his father’s blessing, with that he was sent into training camp which for him took place at Wawold Tower, one of the two places in Sironde where new military members were sent. He showed potential as a frontlines warrior but also excelled in many of the mock battles which involved coming up with complex strategies. The next several years of his life were spent as a patrolman who served up north; it was boring, but easy work. He yearned for more, but was content with where he was on patrol. The action he saw while working as a military patrolman were skirmishes with bandits and slavers, nothing that extravagant. In one particular instance which involved Aldred and his squad raiding a slaver camp, he managed to map out a complex plan in order to minimize causalities for slaves and his companions. The plan was executed to perfection and Aldred was praised for it. After eight long years as a patrolman, Aldred’s name was put forward by his superior as a Vanguard candidate. He was honored to be chosen and was shipped off to the six month camp, which still to this day is legendary for its difficulty. 86 out of 100 men on average who are selected for the camp either drop out or are sent home after the first month. Aldred was proud to be one of those fourteen that lasted a month, but he wanted more, to go the entire way, which he did, finishing Vanguard school with five other men at the age of 24. Aldred was placed in the Vanguard soldier ranks, who are essentially the special forces of the Dominion. He spent the next five years doing many missions for the Dominion, some boring, others quiet thrilling, though he swore an oath of silence to never speak of the missions to anyone outside of the Dominion military, an oath which he still takes seriously. His life changed like thousands of others when the Scourged War began, Aldred himself serving as a trusted captain among the Dominion’s military forces. He fought several battles in the war, taking many orc heads with his greatsword. Towards the end of the war, he even served alongside the legendary King Sulvan Orland III who himself fought in many battles as a top general. Aldred got to know the king pretty well, having earned a respect for the man as both a ruler and fellow soldier. He was at the battle when he saw the king get killed after taking an arrow to the neck. The war ended shortly afterwards. Since then, Aldred left the Vanguard, almost severing ties entirely with the Dominion as a whole. He took up mercenary work, using a fake name, John Ashblade, so no one would recognize his name which received honors after the war. Aldred was living on the outskirts of Cabrook when he received a letter addressed to Aldred Mermet which asked him to join a mercenary group against a mysterious threat. Having nothing else to do, and curious as to what the threat was, he signed up right away.
