The reason they're in Outremer i thought could be that as part of their rite of passage into adulthood they must leave the homeworld and go to another populated world and do good works. This could have social, religious or some other reason for being so. What do you guys think to all that?
A thought I had on this subject: What if the Scyvi are generally considered to have no gender (or that they are a hermaphrodite-race, think snails), but when they come of age (passage of adulthood) they are sent to another world in where they through some events (a set amount of years perhaps?), they will grow akin to a certain gender. Of course it could also just be that they have no gender at all - or perhaps they can change it? Oh yea, what about their body? I'm not sure why, but when I look at the picture I see them as sort of... "liquidity" of sorts... Is that just me?
Sorry i must have missed it, which question thing? The defences we discussed could well be partially telepathic!
What about making it a psychic blast, that is it stuns/confuses the victim? Perhaps the older (and more trained) the Scyvi could learn to project their telepathic abilities, whereby they could be able to tap into a victims mind/brain and not only "blast it", but also confuse it (small illusions)?
