Ruben watched as she walked to the end of the plank. It didn't seem she had any qualms at first, but then she'd said no. He and some of the other crew mates pointed their swords. "Well, that's all nice and lovely, dearie; but I'm not giving you an option." He told her, raising an eyebrow. He stepped onto the first stair of the plank, his sword almost touching her neck. "Are you going to go, or do I have to stick ye?" He asked, and the crew howled in laughter.

Claire didn't move from her spot. "I guess you're just going to have to stick me, pirate." She growled. She wasn't going to jump off the plank. Again she looked over the edge and spotted something underwater. A net. She smiled to herself. It looked like it was set at the front of the plank. He never planned on her dying, it was all a joke for him. Well she'd show him. "Fine." She said and couldn't help but smile to herself. She ran the side of the plank, missing the net. The water hit her and dragged her under. Her foot got caught on the net itself, bringing her underwater.

The crew laughed, and Ruben chuckled to himself. He watched her in the water, and the minute he saw her foot get caught, he motioned for Erekson to reel her up. He watched her dangle by her foot, and as the net dropped onto deck, he heard the thud. "So, here's the deal, lassie," He began, circling her, "I'm tired of yer attitude. I'm tired of yer melodramatic bullshit." He stated. He turned and pulled a sword from one of the crew members sheath. He tossed it in front of the girl. "So, let's fight it out." He grinned.

Claire let out a small yelp whenever she felt herself being pulled out of the water, still being dangled from the net. She reached up to try to free her foot, but she was already back on the ship. Dammit She thought to herself whenever she freed her food. She stared as he tossed her a sword. "You want me to fight you?" She asked, raising her eyes brows. She grabbed the sword and stood up. "Whatever." She mumbled as she put the sword out in front of her. "If you insist." She added, ready to go.

At that point, Ruben began to fight the girl. The crew began chanting, "Ruthless Ruben! Ruthless Ruben!" He was a very skilled swordsman, having been taught by his father when he was nine. His father wasn't a pirate, and he hadn't approved of Ruben become one himself. But his father always did enjoy a good fight with him, and Ruben had enjoyed them himself.
He soon disarmed the girl, and pointed to the sword. "Again." He ordered.

Claire glared at him as they fought. She was taken off guard and disarmed the sword from her grasp. She groaned and reached for it. She grabbed the sword and rolled, the two swords clanked against each other and it was her who disarmed him this time, the tip of the sword pressing against his neck. "Third time is a charm?" She said, her voice dangerously low, her eyes burning into his. "Or are you too scared to try anymore?" She asked him, wiping away the rest of the crew from her mind. It was just him and her right now as far as she was concerned.

He merely chuckled. "I knew it," He began, "I saw yer reflexes in that cavern. I've got it figured out now." He nodded to a crew member, who kicked the sword out of her hand. "I know how we can make this right, lassie." He took her hand and pulled her up, smirking at her. "Yer on the crew now, whether you like it or not. If you refuse, I'll let you use yer imagination to think about the consequences."

Claire was a bit surprised. "Join your crew?" She asked softly. Why? She stepped back from him. Maybe it could have its advantages? She nodded. "Fine. But I'll be just a crew member, and nothing else." She said, There were groans of protest from the men and she smirked at him. "Very well. What would my Captain have me do first? Wash the deck? Cook? Clean something?" She asked with a sarcastic attitude. If he thought for a second she was going to change her attitude he had another thing coming to him.

He smirked back at her. "Ah, well, since you're offering," He placed a bucket at her feet along with a rag. "You can start by washing the deck." He winked. "Oh, and if you splash me again, we'll send you down in a net. This time, it'll be much longer before we reel you up, lassie." He grinned. "Erekson, make sure she washes the deck." He told the man. "Aye, sir!" The man said. He stood over Claire, a small smile on his face. "Welcome to the crew, ma'am." Was all he said.

Claire just smiled at him. Like they always say, kill them with kindness. "Oh yes, your royal Highness." She said, mimicking a bow as she dropped to her knees and took the rag, squeezing any excess water out. "Thanks." She mumbled to the crew mate as she began to scrub the wooden exterior of the ship. She'd get off here, then she'd be gone, it would only be a matter of time. There was no way she was going to spend the rest of her life on a pirate ship, and if the captain thought that, well he must be drinking one too many bottles of rum.

"You say that as if it were an insult." He grinned before making his way off the deck. He made his way to the wheel and began steering.
After a while, he made his way back and watched the girl at work. "Lookin' good, lass. Almost as pretty as that face o' yers." He said. He wasn't sure if he was being nice or mocking, but that line had blurred quite a while ago. "o are you going to tell me yer name, or am I going to have to give you one?" He smirked at her, crossing his arms over his chest.

Claire rolled his eyes at his compliment, but inside she was giddy and blushing, why? This man beat her with a whip, caused her right eye to swell up, and almost killed her! She shouldn't be all giddy at the first hint of a compliment from him! "I'm Claire." She said, already having half the upper deck wiped down. It truly looked a lot better then before, giving it some shine. The rag, however, was filthy and she needed a new one. She handed the old dirty one to the captain. "Captain Nameless, would you mind fetching me a clean rag? I'd get it but seeing as how I hadn't had the royal tour of the ship, I'm not sure where its all kept." She commented, folding her arms across her chest.

Claire followed him, but smirked when he introduced himself. "I think I'll stick to just Ruben, if you don't mind." She said and took the rag from him before leaving where she left off, continuing to wipe the deck.

About an hour or two later, the whole upper deck was wiped down and shining. She picked up the bucket and dumped the water over the side. She decide to comply and behave, for now anyways. All she had to do was earn the trust of the pirate, then she had him. Claire swept her hair to the side and stood there, looking out over the glistening blue ocean. It was almost dusk, the sun fell over the horizon lighting the sky in pinks and purples.

As the night fell, there came a loud banging sound from outside the cabin door. "Dinner is served! Dinner is served!" Ruben handed the wheel to a crew member and made his way back. "I hope you've got an appetite," he told Claire, giving a friendly smirk. He came back and took his seat, looking at the large feast on the table, "Looks delicious, Fredrick!" He shouted, waiting for Claire to come back.

Claire stood a few more minutes looking out across the ocean when Ruben came to alert her dinner was ready. Truth was, she was starving, but she didn't make any signs of moving. She nodded at him, but stayed in the same spot. It was dark now, the only light coming from the half moon and the lanterns on the ship, but other then that pure blackness. She felt tired from wiping the deck all day, and probably from not eating in two days, but it didn't matter to her.

After a while that she hadn't come in, Ruben sighed. He grabbed an apple and stood abandoning his loud, obnoxious friends and returned on deck. He tossed the ape between his hands and came to stand by his new captive. "Apple?" He asked, throwing her a dashing smile. "You know, perhaps we got off to a bad start. But if we're going to be stuck on this ship together, we may as well try to get along." He offered, leaning on the side of the ship, leaning back to look at her.

Claire glanced back at the approaching captain before looking back at the sea. When he offered her the apple, she nodded and took it from him. She thanked him as she took a bite out of the round red fruit. It was delicious and really hit the spot. She raised her brows and couldn't help but laugh. "Sure, I'll just forget about these red marks on my back, oh and my swollen eyes." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "Not to mention you ruined my dress, my bare back showing all damn day." She mumbled, not glancing back over at him as she continued eating the apple.

Ruben sighed, looking up at the sky. "Think of it this way, dear," He began, trying to figure out how to put his thoughts into words, "The first night we met, you were stealing me treasure. Then you took a sword and stabbed it threw one of me mateys hearts before anyone said a word. You still 'aven't given me explanation as to why you'd been takin' it. I asked where it was, and ya spat in my face. I'm not sayin' I'm an angel 'ere, but you've got your violent streak, too."
