Lilly laced up her doll-like shoes with gawky finger movements. Her gold speckled eyes widened at the landscape around her, and she quickly shot up from her seat on the pavement. What had she been doing? Where was she? The tiny child spun in a circle and tried to find evidence of another person, perhaps they had seen something; indeed, not a soul was to be found. Unfortunately, for the second time that month, Lilly had vanquished her own memories. "Momma," she cried out in an uneven voice, and a tear slowly slid down her porcelain cheek. A heavy pit bloated in her stomach, and she knew something wasn't quite right. Without skipping a beat, Lilly began to march down the dimly lit street. Strands of her coffee tinted hair were blown by the breath of a supple breeze over the city. In case of an emergency, her parents had taught her sister to find the nearest"church". Lilly assumed the same would apply for her, for any angel, for any human, for any demon. The sound of her plastic shoes clicked on the sidewalk while she bobbed her head side to side. To be honest, Lilly was not exactly sure what a "church" looked like. Maybe she would feel it, the way she felt when her brethren were near. Greasy buildings loomed over her as she glided with purpose, more and more tears dribbling down her face. Where were parents? Why couldn't she remember everything? Where was her sister? She couldn't recall the last time she had seen her family, and that scared her more than anything. A large building finally came into her view, colored lights mesmerizing Lilly. Maybe this was a "church." She felt a humming in her fingers, where had she felt that before...? Before she could stop herself, she scuttled through the hospital doors and began following the sensations down the hallways. Something was pulling her in.
