Back Story: Born to the interstellar criminal Blackfire and her consort Vril Dox, he was raised by the rebels until he was sixteen, though he got her powers, in action he took more after his father than his mother. He could often be found repairing the group's ships or other technology when he was supposed to be training in how to fight. Soon his mother grew tired of this and sent him on a mission to try and teach him to behave as a warrior. The Thanagarians weren't happy about having one of their outposts attacked by pirates and he was captured, imprisoned for several years.
While he was in prison he was forced by the guards to fight several of the other inmates. There he learned to hold his own in battle, but only his powers allowed him to survive the long imprisonment. When he was eventually released, he tried to lead an honest life, working on a cargo ship. He regularly contacted his aunt, who told him of her adventures on Earth as well as various cultures in the galaxy. He found that their discussions helped him adjust to life among normal people. When her messages stopped coming, he asked his captain for a leave of absence to investigate it. He was dropped off about 100 lightyears from Earth and he flew the distance as quickly as he could, hoping that he wasn't too late to save her.
