They drove for a few minutes before the school came into view. He was mentally removed from his place of half-awareness into the realm of an exciting reality. He shoved his book back into it's place, trying not to look overly excited. This was when it would start, a new adventure into an exciting academic experience. He realized just how embarrassing that sounded in his head, that's the kind of stuff you find on school flyers, not in anyone's mind. Still, he couldn't help but be excited. He listened the announcement on the speakers. It seemed simple enough instruction. Until he realized he had to pick a room. He rubbed his face out of worry. While it was no big deal for most people, this was something that could cause Shay a lot of unneccessary stress. He could easily end up picking the wrong room, maybe taking a room from the wrong guy or he could end up getting really crappy room mates. Or maybe there were guidelines about picking rooms he wasn't aware about and he would end up totally embarrassing himself. It was all he could do to keep himself composed thinking about these scenarios. Maybe he could just ask for any room. But what if that's wrong too? He decided to just stay in his seat and try not to look as stressed as he felt. He would wait until there were few people left, that way if he embarrassed himself it wouldn't be in front of everyone. But maybe it would be in front of the wrong people and then suddenly everyone will know about the guy who did a dumb thing. Maybe if he just sat there looking desperate enough someone will help him. But that's a pretty childish thing to do for his age. Maybe he could just wait until everyone's gone, but then he could be late for the assembly. He continued to sit and sort through the possibilities, finding little success in creating a solution.
