AP classes as a freshman are literally unheard of where I live. My freshman year was pretty easy because the hardest classes available were just Honors, and at that grade even honors classes were a joke. However, now that I actually am starting to get AP classes while simultaneously doing varsity sports, half the time I'm too tired to do anything with what little free time that I have.

All I can say is that if your school system is anything like mine, managing band along with more than one or two AP classes per year would be a nightmare. I had a friend with just one AP history class, an honors Spanish class, and a couple of joke elective classes. However, he tried to do athletics on top of that, which is what really killed him. He got home at about 5:45 and did nothing but homework until about 9:30, every day.
