More importantly, does the characters suddenly need to attend the school or not? Are they expected to? Kazeko was not attending any school at all and helping out (in quotation-marks) at an orphanage for younger children. Would she suddenly need to be transferred from nowhere so to suddenly attend this school?

Was my first assumption before I got confused correct in that it was just a gathering spot and attending has nothing to do with it?
