Name: Knight Alecar Drey
Gender: Male
Species: Miraluka
Age: 31
Homeworld: Alpheridies
Appearance:
Considered handsome by quite a few, Alecar is tall and slender of frame, lacking much in the way of bulk or muscle while retaining a well-fit physique from occasional training. His features are sharp and bony, finely sculpted and pale of skin. He keeps shoulder-length brown hair swept back behind his ears, lacking ornament besides a single braided strand that holds some personal significance to him. Clothing-wise, Alecar opts to wear personalized Jedi Robes that boast simplicity and modesty, ensuring the outfit does not hinder his movement or slow him down. To cover his vestigial eye sockets, he keeps a basic strip of cloth wrapped around where his eyes would be; giving him the simple appearance of a blind man.
Personality: Deliberative, thoughtful, slightly cautious, humble, well-read, and polite, Alecar is thought of by many to be somewhat of a sage; his intrinsic connection to The Force, coupled with a pensive, reflective demeanor make him a favorite of Initiates and Padawans alike to seek out when in need of guidance and teaching. A reverent devotee of the Unifying Force, Alecar spends many hours a day meditating, finding that the Force has a way of gaining clear insight and dissipating self-doubt. Despite his spiritual connection and focus, Alecar also shows an innate love of history, having spent much of his time as an Initiate and Padawan in the Temple Archives; taking especial interest in The Old Republic, and Je'daii Order. Alecar is also known for his kindhearted disposition and willingness to help others, and will drop whatever it is he is doing when someone comes to him for help or counsel.
Flaws: Though a good-natured man who displays many good characteristics of a Jedi, Alecar nevertheless has a few flaws of his own. Firstly, his strong belief in The Unifying Force as opposed to the more mainstream Living Force inclines him to believe in neither a Light or a Dark Side, but the Force as a single entity. Because of this, he has no inhibitions against studying and even practicing what are considered 'Dark Side techniques' or learning more about the Sith. Despite all this, Alecar strives to keep balance, and not lean too far either in the Light or Dark side. Secondly, Alecar does not believe in the Order's creed that emotions should be suppressed, believing that emotions help promote individuality and creativity. Because of this, Alecar displays more sincere emotion as opposed to other Jedi, though he keeps a calm and collected demeanor at most times. Lastly, Alecar does not believe that a Jedi should be forbidden from romantic relationships, as love can be experienced without strong passion or jealousy and can strengthen both individuals in said relationship. While Alecar does not outspokenly condone romantic behavior in the Order, he will not condemn it either.
Skills: Despite extensively
studying the seven forms of lightsaber combat, Alecar has trained exclusively in Form VI: Niman, preferring the balanced and relaxed style as opposed to more aggressive forms such as Ataru or Shien/Djem-So. However he has also dabbled slightly in Soresu for blaster deflection, the basics of Shii-Cho and the study of Makashi (while preferring to stick to Niman). Though not a highly-trained combatant, Alecar's naturally heightened reflexes and mastery of the Force make him a dangerous opponent, though there are times he will not even draw his saber, let alone use it. In regards to other skills, Alecar is an excellent mediator, his approachable and friendly personality, coupled with a willingness to see from other's perspectives and lack of bias make him a moderated negotiator. Perhaps Alecar's greatest skill, however, is his skill in intellectual pursuits. Having spent hours in the Temple Library throughout his life, Alecar exhibits a vast array of knowledge in various topics, such as history, medicine, linguistics, astronomy, religion, and intergalactic politics.
Equipment: Alecar carries little on his person aside from his robes, a green-hued
lightsaber, and a personal holocron.
Force Abilities: Sacrificing time that could be spent studying martial arts, Alecar's skill
really displays itself when it comes to matters of the Force. Born with the ability of Force Sight, Alecar is not limited by the normal perception of sight, and can see through walls and doors, see through the dark, detect an individual's Force aura, and detect objects around him; the only limitation(s) being that he cannot perceive color or holograms, and that one's personal appearance is difficult for him to see closely. Besides this, Alecar displays a great amount of skill in Force Sense, his skill great enough that it is incredibly difficult, if not impossible to sneak up on, or surprise him. Perhaps Alecar's greatest Force ability, however, is his mastery of Telekinesis. Alecar is so skilled with it, in fact, that not only can he perform nearly every aspect of it (including the darker Force Choke and Force Crush ability), but he can also apply it to different uses as well, including the famed Lightsaber Throw, and levitation, as well as lifting nearly five of the Muntuur stones in the Jedi Temple. Besides these powers, he is also skilled in Force Jump, Force Deflection, and Force Lightning (the latter skill only rarely used).
Personal History: Alecar's life started out very similar to other Jedi's. He was born on the Miraluka's adopted homeworld of Alpheridies with his family line being heavily involved in the Miralukan Luka Sene. Because of this, Alecar displayed a high amount of Force-Sensitivity, and was prompted by the Jedi Watchman there to be taken to Coruscant for training. Though his father, a prominent member of the Luka Sene, felt his son should remain and learn from them, he eventually relinquished, and Alecar was taken to Coruscant.
Practically being raised at the Temple, Alecar had little memory of his family back home except for a single wood pendant around his neck that his mother sent as a parting memento. This pendant served as a tether for him, reminding him of the life back home. The Masters of the Temple were slightly concerned by this, but found Alecar still displayed the traits to make a good Jedi. When the time came for his Initiate Trials, Alecar quickly memorized the Jedi Code, and constructed his lightsaber, but found himself lacking when it came time for the annual Jedi Temple Apprentice Tournament. Alecar was not strong like the other Initiate's, or very skilled when it came to swordfighting, and was ill-prepared for when the fateful day came. True to his thinking, he was defeated early on in the tournament, and many a Knight looked to the other, more promising Initiates...except for one. An Ithorian Jedi Master by the name of Goza Paba approached the young Miraluka, and noted the Force sensitivity within him; finding that spark, and chose him as a Padawan.
Goza Paba shared the Ithorian's philosophy of peace and love of nature, enforcing serenity and meditation into Alecar, who could only look on with scholarly attention, absorbing as much information as he possibly could. The two of them formed a close father-son relationship, with Paba's influence making Alecar more peaceful and kind, as well as honing his connection to the Force.
Not much for action, the two of them would instead spend their time journeying to various planets either to study their history, or serve as ambassadors, representatives, and diplomats. Goza Paba was a natural speaker, and his abilities in diplomacy were picked up by his Padawan to use for the future.
When not on missions, the two of them would spend hours studying in the Temple Library together, with the Padawan learning much in the way of Force techniques and history, becoming deeply connected to the Force as a result, though this caused his martial skill to atrophy as well. As the years past, it came time for Alecar to take the Knight's Trial and be christened a full Knight of the Jedi Order. Fearful a similar result as the Initiate Trials would occur, Alecar spent hours shutting out everyone around him, even his own master, meditating alone in his quarters.
When the day came, Alecar passed his trials with little issue, though he lost the wooden pendant given to him during the Trial of the Flesh, causing him great loss as he now had no connection to his homeworld or family. Now fully christened a Knight, Alecar had to deal with the painful separation of Master and Padawan, having to let Goza Paba go. The farewell was a heartfelt one, and Alecar swore to keep his master's teachings in memory, and apply it to his own studies. Currently, Alecar spends his days at the Temple Library, offering good counsel to those who seek it.
Additional Info: Alecar has a strong affinity for tea, and can be found drinking it more likely than not.
