Let me know if there's anything you feel needs changing.
Name: Salhaine Lira Gender: Female Species: Echani Age: 19 Homeworld: Eshan Appearance: Salhaine shares many of her physical characteristics with others of her species: the silver eyes, pale skin and white hair are all present. Her hair is kept tied back, save for the braid behind her right ear as worn by all Padawans. She stands at 1.75 metres in height, and wears the standard robes, belt, cloak and boots of a Jedi. Personality: Discipline and focus are at the forefront of Salhaine's mindset. She maintains a calm and collected demeanour as much as possible, even in the heat of a fight. To both her fellow Jedi and ordinary citizens, Salhaine is courteous as any other, if a little uncertain of how to interact with them outside of ritual combat, a common practice among the Echani in which she feels she learns most about her fellows. She believes that learning another Jedi's name is far less important than learning the practices through which they battle. Salhaine reminds herself, through meditation, that learning through the combative nature of the Echani is only one facet of the metaphorical crystal that is the Force (an expression commonly used by her Master). Flaws: Salhaine is young, and inexperienced by Padawan standards when it comes to operating more or less independently - under her Master's instruction, of course. As a result she struggles with decision-making, instead looking to an older and wiser superior to make a call. Her errors in judgement during the first half of the Clone Wars are an example of this. Skills: Salhaine is trained in Forms I and V of lightsaber combat, though favours the use of the latter, interchanging Shien and Djem So as and when the circumstances call for it. Equipment: Salhaine wields a lightsaber with a plain blue blade. She has no other notable equipment to speak of. Force Abilities: As a Padawan, Salhaine knows little more than the basic kinetic applications of the Force. Her training put the instruction of Shien and Djem So - and by extension, applying the Force to enhance her use of the style - ahead of further enhancing the rest of her Force abilities. She is, however, capable of a simple Force-assisted leap in addition to the core abilities every Padawan learns. Personal History: Much like any other member of the Jedi Order, Salhaine was discovered to be Force-sensitive in her infancy and brought to the Jedi Temple to be raised as an Initiate. Her completion of the Initiate's Trials attracted the attention of Jedi Master Rec Itan, a fellow Echani who happened to be within the Temple at the time, who elected to take her on as his apprentice. In the beginnings of her apprenticeship to Master Itan, the older Echani brought her to their homeworld of Eshan. There, Salhaine studied firsthand the combative nature of her species: a markedly different affair compared to the serenity and calm of the Jedi Temple. During their time on Eshan, Master Itan began to teach Salhaine the use of Form V. "Now that you have seen and experienced the nature of our people, Salhaine, what do you feel you have gained from this?" "An hour of combat against a single opponent can say more to an Echani than a day of discussion." "Perhaps. But I want you to imagine for me a many-sided crystal, similar to those used in lightsaber construction. Fighting, whether the ritual combat of the Echani, the bare-knuckle brawling of a back-alley street gang, or the clash of lightsabers, is merely a single facet of this gem. The Force holds much more than this to even a Padawan such as yourself; you learned that much as an Initiate. The culture of our species holds the belief that to know someone, truly understand them, you must face them in combat. But there are other paths to the same end." "Forgive me, Master, for I do not understand." "The crystal I describe is a poetic one, used to describe the Force. But it also describes a Jedi. We are warriors only by necessity; deliberately seeking out constant battle is not our way. A single facet of the gem, if you will. To that end, I shall teach you the Perseverance Form of lightsaber combat, as my Master taught me beyond the basics. You shall learn the intricacies of both Shien, for defense, and Djem So, for counterattacking. And in entwining the pair, you shall learn to balance your combative heritage with tapping into the Force." Salhaine's study of Form V, as well as other subjects such as diplomacy, extensive meditation, and history, continued over the next few years. At sixteen years of age, the Clone Wars began, and she was thrown headfirst into the war at her Master's side. It was over the course of the next year that Salhaine became aware of her inability to make large-scale decisions independently. Master Itan, of course, led the majority of the fighting force to which he had been assigned, though he often deferred to Salhaine to see how she approached a situation. Each time Master Itan looked to his apprentice to make the call, Salhaine was at a loss. Each judgement she made resulted in errors in strategy, and by extension combative effectiveness. Eventually she began refusing requests for input, believing that she lacked the knowledge and experience to make the decisions required by her role as Jedi Commander. Seeing this, Master Itan recommended that she return to Coruscant in the interest of studying battlefield strategy. Salhaine was quick to accept this decision, and has remained at the Jedi Temple ever since.
