Path stayed silent throughout, watching Edge run off from the corner at his eye. Dimly in the back of his mind, he wondered if he had made a mistake. Going soft...having Edge as his mate....gaze sliding over to Sleipnir and Skylark as they clung to each other, perhaps they were a mistake too. What had he asked of Edge in the first few weeks they met? Right, to end his life because ultimatly his biggest his mistake was trying to survive only to save a not so human human, end up letting a unforeseen pregnancy get to him and ending up here. Was he truly that weak as Edge believed? He missed the days before Edge had started looking into his past, when all he had was a curious bouncy human who liked to annoy him with questions, the fond though unable to bring about a smile, now ever since he had found about his Hydra heritage, his bouncy lovable human could switch with terrifying velocity to....someone he never knew. Someone who called him weak...and perhaps it was true, but.... In the end, who had been the one to birth their children without any help from the other? And before that Path had survived on this earth longer than the human had. Would the boy have even survived his first few seconds on earth if the dragon hadnt intervened and saved his life, sheltered him...helped him get here. He wasnt...weak, but Edge had a point still. He had been spoilt, protected too much by his mother and thus hadnt been able to protect her...watched her waste away for him...his gaze slid back upon the twins. He didnt want them to relive such a thing, didn't want them scarred and alone...a repeat of history. He couldn't let them be weak either, not the way he had been. Even if it meant pulling them away from this shelter... He took a breath and walked to their bedside, sitting at the edge of it and reaching out to stroke them both, "Hey, Daddy is just gone for a little while, but in that time, we're taking a little trip okay? So rest for now and dream easy..." He muttered tucking them both in. Sleipnir held on tightly to Skylark, a whole range of confusing feelings swirling in his head. He didnt understand why Daddy was shouting at Father...was Father bad? But he was so nice now....confused, he questioned Skylarkthough he doubted his brother would know the answer either. In the end, he fell into a dreamless sleep. Path watched over them both, stroking their heads gently and combing through their hair, whispering nursey rhymes from his mother. Even if Path knew the new passwords for the vault, his mind was made up. Because in the end, ultimately Edge held the key to the vaults and he could lock them whenever he chose, out of spite or fear...Path didnt want them dependant in the limited supply, didnt want them to end up like him now...he wondered if they would make it, but....it was in his name wasnt it? Relinqueretur. The survivor....not Path...Relin....he was destined for this... Beneath the earth, they shook and quivered in their slumber, they knew the voice of their kind. They had foreseen, planned and waited. War was coming.
