Historically speaking, yes, Poland did have [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Air_Force#1939]a relatively small air force during the invasion[/url] (despite being obsolete), due to the fact Poland had just started mechanizing its army just a few years earlier, at around '36. Their first all-metal aircraft was manufactured in '33.
