Name: Tara Rial

Appearance: 5ft 8



Personality: Tara is friendly and laid back when she's not working and calm and focused when she is. She takes awhile to fully trust others but she is very loyal to them when she does. She is independent and won't follow orders that she feels are unjust or come from someone she doesn't respect. She has a strong sense of morality, she is kind and believes in protecting the weak but has little patience for those who hurt the innocent or professionals who are incompetent.

Backstory: Tara grew up as an only child in a poor family in Otamur. Not wanting to get married or follow her father as a carpenter, she joined the army at 16. She excelled physically but her lack of respect for officers stopped her from rising far in rank. When she was 20 she disobeyed an order that would have gotten herself and the rest of her unit killed and was almost sentenced to death. The prince was suspicious of her commander's report and questioned other soldiers in her unit. When he discovered what had really happened he pardoned her and recruited her to be an assassin, realising she wasn't suited to the military. She trained in the skills of an assassin and quickly proved her worth. By the time she was 25 she was the highest ranked of the kingdom's assassins and a friend of the prince. When Ogual's armies attacked 10 years ago, Tara was no longer needed as an assassin and she became a guard for the prince. There were several attempts on his life from his own people who had been corrupted by the plague, and once a creature who had never been human managed to get into the palace. After five years of war Ogual finally won, the king and prince were killed in battle and Tara fled the country. She spent the next five years wandering and wallowing in her guilt, taking the occasional bounty on criminals to make enough to survive. When Merrik approached her she didn't believe him but even the small chance of being able to fight against Ogual was enough to get her to go with him.

Skills/Abilities: She is very skilled with knives, archery, stealth and is very agile. She is good with a sword and has a basic knowledge of poisons and first aid. The bond has given her the ability to have sudden bursts of speed where she can move fast enough to be a blur to human eyes.

Dragon Gender: Female
Dragon Personality: She is impatient and mischievous; often behaving quite like a child, but when the situation demands it she grudgingly becomes more serious. While being very social and outgoing, she has yet to learn how to empathise with those who have different outlooks on life from her own and is bemused by the social etiquette of the humans.

How much would merrik have told them about the bonding? Would they know about the mind sharing?

They wouldn't have been told anything about the bonding. The oracle once told him that the bond is the most natural, untainted process on this earth, and he didn't want to taint their perception or give them any preconceptions about it as each would be completely unique depending on how each dragon chooses its tamer and what their own bond is like. They probably would have gotten the idea of telepathy for communication from Obsidian Nova when they first met him, but they wouldn't know that their minds would be completely opened to their dragon and vice versa

Hmm I should really ask before I write lol. Aaand another question, is it possible for the dragon to see the human's memories before they bond, if the human is willing?

I don't think so, I mean, I haven't put much thought into it, but the mind is a powerful thing, very hard to pry open, even willingly. Which makes the bond that much more special

Okay, since we're approaching the table post by post, I'll write Cairene's entry into this current W.I.P. If you're against touching, please let me know. I am being serious. Cairene likes to play with hair and clothing, and she may or may not breach some personal bubbles, lol.

Lol you could, but im sure they were taught about the dangers of trying to break down a minds walls without the bond in place XD

the constant activity in this thread in the few short hours I sleep is amazing.

I'm still SO shocked that nobody took the gold dragon. I personally adore the intellect dragon. OR the classic red fire drake! Lol dah, I guess I'm going to keep saying that for every unpicked species XD

Actually the second I saw the gold dragon I wanted it badly. I just kinda liked the Deep Sea Dragon just a little bit more.

Lol I might have taken the gold dragon if it wasn't for the fact I'm too lazy to write ridiculously intelligent characters!

OH, and just a note now that both the atmosphere and lightning dragons have been taken, it won't be so unusual for the two of them to be very close friends. Their species both originated on the Storm Plains; one of wind, the other of lightning, they are fast, they are of the sky, and in this case they are both female, lol they'd be good friends.

For fun: Other species that may be good friends naturally. (I won't tell you guys which dragons got along growing up or not, thats up to you)

Atmosphere & Lightning (Their instincts work perfectly together)
Regeneration & White (Both are quieter, "saint"ly species)
Swamp & Forest (Both are of the land by nature)
Desert & Mountain (they both prefer the earth to the skies)
OR Mountain & Vanity (as they both have a love for fine gems and ores)
OR (if the gold gets taken) Desert & Gold (They both have a deep passion for knowledge)
Deep Sea & Vanity (Both have a slightly low level of respect for mankind)
Solar & Fire (Both obviously adore heat and its power)

Anyone else have fun ideas for dragon playmates? lol

Fair enough, Lol I stick with Nova because of the lore, but Man, I am so fond of the other species. For their unique abilities and backgrounds. The aurora was always one of my favorites, as well as the white, but the vanity and the intellect are so unique, but then the forest or mountain or deep sea dragons are unique also in their evolution. They ALL have cool factors to them.

I should know... heh heh heh.

I can't wait to surprise you guys down the line with awesome events concerning each dragon species and other twists and turns. This plot will blow your mind. I hope. Its been blowing mine already! Haha Erran has come up with a GREAT twist for our character. Oh man. Thankyou lord of the rings.
