*"Catch me if you can!"* Ferra called out with a shrill scream following behind it, she took off running across the playground, wood chips splashing up as her black mary janes were caked in dirt. **"You're too fast Ferra!"** another young voice called back, voice exhausted. The other young girl held her sides watching Ferra take off like it was nothing. Full of life and energy. Ferra stopped shortly noticing she wasn't being chased anymore. *"Aww."* The girl groaned, turning around and walking to her friend. *"Sorry Amy."* she admitted, giving her a hug. Amy returned the gesture, and the two giggled. *"You wanna swing instead?"* Ferra suggested, and Amy nodded in return. The two made their way to the swing set and began pumping their legs to swing higher and higher. There was something about the moment you hit the top and your bottom left the swing's seat that made a person felt weightless. The two friends swung in silence, enjoying the brisk air and the excitement of being able to have recess every day. Suddenly various whistles came from playground monitors signaling that it was time to go inside. Ferra took the risk and hopped from the top, landing on her feet with grace, while Amy took her time until the swing came to a full stop before she slipped off the seat. *"You know, you can jump off like me!"* Ferra said, as the two began to walk towards the school together. **"I know, I just don't want to."** Amy said in return, shaking her head towards the girl's suggestion. Ferra grinned, tucking a strand of her dirty blonde hair behind her ear. *"We'll be friends forever Amy."* the young girl piped as they reached the doorway, **"I hope so."** Amy said, opening the door for them to go through. The two of them continued back to their homeroom where class would continue on as normal. The two best friends sat next to one another and continued on with their day. Amy wanting to just go home already, and Ferra excited to have her dance recital later that night. *"Are you coming to my recital tonight Amy?"* Ferra whispered as the teacher spoke of multiplication tables. **"Maybe."** Amy said, trying to ignore Ferra while she was learning. *"Ask your parents when they come get you Amy, I want you to see me dance!"* the young girl whispered a little louder than meant to, and the teacher shook her head, shushing the two girls. After a few minutes, a voice could be heard again *"Amy"* Ferra whispered, and was ignored this time. It wasn't worth it to get in trouble for Amy. *"Hmph!"* Ferra grunted as she now attempted to pay attention to the teacher's lesson plan, at least for now.
