Lasers are known to be pretty hot. And Isaac's ship has [these](http://deadspace.wikia.com/wiki/C99_Supercollider_Contact_Beam) as one of his ship's weapons, but modified to be larger and more powerful. I assume that it will do some damage to him if a shot finds its mark.
