"Hey, listen!" A voice called out. Annaliese grumbled. It was an unwelcome voice so early in the morning. "Hey, listen!" Maybe it wasn't the voice itself was unwelcome, but the annoying noise it produced that was. "Watch out!" Not long after Annaliese's face was hit with something soft. A feeling of annoyance came over the girl. "Gah! What's with you Tinkermon!?" Annaliese exclaimed to her friend and partner, Tinkermon. The mischievous fairy Digimon merely snicker with a foul looking smile. Annoyed, Annaliese took the pillow she got hit with and returned it with a bit more force. Tinkermon received it full force while not paying attention, laughing at what her human's annoyed face looked like. "Idiot. Don't start a war you can't win." A smug smile wore across her face, like a general winning a battle. Recovering a few seconds later, Tinkermon replied, "Oh, it is on!" A war started that day. The first battle, Battle of Annatitum. The battle raged for minutes, the war about as long. Many brave animals, stuffed of honor and pillows, threaded with glory, fought that day. Many live, and much less died. The fighting continued until a third army entered the room. "Miss Annaliese," A servant that went by the name of Hilda. Much contrary to the meaning of her name, she was much more a pacifist than a fighter. She was a shorter woman, probably just into her early twenties as was evidenced by the Salamon she had following her around at one point, not anymore though of course.. "Please, stop this rough-housing with Tinkermon. If Mister or Misses Kaufmann were to catch you. . ." The two stopped. There was never any fun to be had in that house. Annaliese's adoptive parents put a stop to that a long time ago. As much as Annaliese hated it, she could really feel anything negative about Hilda. She was just watching out for the two after all. "Fine, I understand" Annaliese said, regrettably putting down the pillow she was about to launch at her partner. She wasn't prepared for the stray pillow that hit her in the face, "Ouf." She muttered staring annoyedly at Tinkermon, who just looked away as if nothing happened. "I'm sorry, Miss Annaliese." Hilda spoke softly. Annaliese just nodded, "No, thanks for looking after me I guess." Hilda make a slight bow and walked off. "Guess I should get ready for school?" She sighed as she started to get ready . . . _______________ School was. . . Well, school. Really. Nothing really out of the ordinary. . . Well, other than no one having their digimon. It was weird. Everything felt. . . Well, dead. People with small digimon tended to carry them around in her school. Tinkermon was one of the most well known in the school. Not for fame. In fact, it was for infamy. If a prank was pulled, it was expected that it was Tinkermon who did it. Of course, Annaliese had to have a good word with her most every time. Except for the time someone actually deserved it. There were words, but they were of praise rather than, "You idiot, what are you doing? Are you trying to get me in trouble?" Tinkermon still showed her face around school. It was hopeful sign to the students who had been missing their Digimon. The day continued on as usual. Classes, followed by classes, followed by lunch followed by more classes. A boring day to be sure. Still, her favorite part of the entire day was coming up. The end of the school day. The school computer lab was open and she got to check her email. "I wonder if there is a reply yet!" She said as she got to sit down at the computer chair with Tinkermon. The fairy just sat at the desk and watched as Annaliese scrolled through her internet browser and type in her email address and password. "I wonder." Tinkermon mumbled as Annaliese started looking at her new messages. "Junk, junk, junk. . . Oh, that one's new. TIME, it says." She joked around as Annaliese attempted to ignore the banter as she found the message she was looking for. "Oh. Here it is!" The girl was happy to report to the empty room before reading it aloud, "Ahem, 'Dear Anna. I'm glad to hear you doing well again. I'm sorry that your parents are still like that, so many years later. Oh! I got adopted! They're a nice family. . . I wish they took me too. . ." She trailed off, opting to not reading aloud the rest. It was a silence for a while with Tinkermon making motions trying to make the situation less awkward for her, to no avail of course. "Well,I'm glad to hear that. Agatha was like a sister to me. I'm glad she finally got picked up by a good family." A smile rose across her face, forced as it may be. Tinkermon hated when her friend got into this type of mood. "Yea, that's good for her. Oh! You're finished right? I want to see what kind of stupid thing that TIME email had in it. Someone joking around about you getting another egg?" The Digimon was just trying to egg her friend on, but it didn't work. "Nope, they say you shouldn't open emails from things you don't know." Annaliese said with her eyes closed for a lecture, "They might contain things that harm the computer they're opened on." "It's okay. You don't have to open it anymore." Click. "I just did." Tinkermon said with a smile. She just wanted to sate her curiosity. "Nothing bad right?" Annaliese's eyes opened in a flash at the click, "What do you think you're doing!" Just as she was about to continue on, there was a bright light from her school-bag. The two looked curiously and Annaliese opened it to find what cause the light. Her calculator was gone. It was an expensive thing, but she didn't care for it anyhow. What was surprising is what was there in it's place. A black and white device. Nothing she had ever seen before. "Heyheyhey!" Tinkermon exclaimed at looking at it, "Isn't that like, you know? A digivice!?" Annaliese nodded out of confusion and had to have it explained to her, "It's something that there was a long time ago supposedly. "That's what I think it is at least." "Is that so?" Annaliese said, still confused. If it was something from a long time ago, why would it appear now? Does it have to do with the missing digimon or something? It was a digi-something after all. "Well, maybe we should go. . . What?" Looking around, the room was. . . Different. She wasn't exactly sure how. It was the same room, for the most part. It felt. . . Dead. There was no one there beside them, but it never felt like it was absolutely empty before. "Do you feel that?" "A bone chilling dread? No. I don't feel that. Emptiness on the other hand. . ." Tinkermon said smartassedly. With a sigh, Annaliese looked around, finding no one. "Hey look at the computer monitor. It's all funky." The two's attention on it now, it began to display a weird static. Annaliese muttered, "I don't feel so gu--." And promptly passed out. Tinkermon muttered afterward, "Me eithe--." And followed into dreamland.
