As long as I remember from TWD comics, even Zombie scratches weren't enough to kill someone. There is a problem with TWD universe. Militaries simply doing nothing. I don't believe that one of the best army in the world fall down so quickly. The reason "they wanted to protect their family" is illogical. If you want to protect your family, you keep fighting. I think we can make our changes in TWD universe.

Meaning, if your character is an office worker who lived middle class, they're most likely not going to know how to use guns or be that great with self defense.
czechmate46
Why does everyone assume that ludicrous and quite frankly absolutely retarded idea. An office worker can't be a hunter? An office worker can't be a violent psychopath? An office worker can't be raised by survivalist who taught his/her children how to survive? An officer worker can't own and train to use a gun for self protection and protection of his/her family? Almost everyone I know owns multiple guns and none of them work in a job where a gun is required. I've been shooting guns since I was strong enough to hold one up. I own two pistols and a semi-automatic carbine. I work at a grocery store. I have never onced worked in the military or law enforcement of any kind.

Agreed. I'm a student now, but I know how to use and shoot pistols, double barrels, shotguns or hunting rifles. Also some people like me reads and learns things, has knowledge in theory like how to aim with assault rifle. Using gun is not something hard like you said and it doesn't depend on people's job. What is really hard? Melee weapons, bows, throwing knives and axes. Really, stabbing is much harder than people think. Bows for another example, and crossbow too. Throwing knives. These are harder than owning and using a gun. I know how to clean pistols. May be I don't own one, but some family members own guns. Even a university student or simple cleaner in office can own and use guns. You don't bring them to work or public places, but you can keep them in home for self protection. I %100 agree with you.

I suppose I have to agree with this, and state that I am a university student who knows how to use a bow and arrow. I guess it just has to work in the background of the person, as well as not having everyone knowing how to use a gun, or every single weapon possible. I am looking forward to this

If you're interested in a dice system(which covers combat and non-combat scenarios, as well as loot from both bodies and buildings) I am your man. I ran a Walking Dead inspired RP a while back, and the system I cobbled together worked brilliantly, but interest simply petered out and people disappeared. As far as cure, scratches, etc: In my RP, what we did was just have a bite have a chance to infect. We'd roll a die to determine if the character survived the fever. I thought that was a lot more reasonable, personally. We also had stats for weapon classes, so everyone was allowed to start off either familiar with a particular one, or else be equally ignorant of most weapons(depending on the player's point allocation). Because tons of people in America do know how to shoot despite not working in a field that requires it. I do, and I'm a freaking cosmetology student. It really does depend on what part of the country you're in, but almost everywhere has people who can shoot. And as a matter of fact, people who can shoot and who own guns are the most reasonable people to have survived the first waves of a zombie outbreak that shut down most of civilization. As far as the reason for military breakdown(which is a really big barrier to suspension of disbelief in this kind of world), it could simply be that normal civilians started to lose faith, looted, were shot, shot back etc. It doesn't make sense for a zombie outbreak to take out a military, but it is a necessary assumption for this type of RP to exist.

I did give a thought to a dice system, it does sound like a good idea and I would consider using it. As for familiarity with guns, I suppose my statement was impacted by my surroundings, as I live in Southern Ontario where gun laws are rather strict. Very few people here actually own/know how to use a gun. However, that is not where the RP takes place so I should retract my statement. I would just like character's abilities to be realistic considering the rest of their persona.

Makes sense. Here, lemme link you to my old RP so you can look at the dice. If you like it, feel free to snatch it. It's modified from Apocalypse World. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/65344/posts/ooc

This seems rad, I'd like in.
Almost everyone I know owns multiple guns and none of them work in a job where a gun is required.
Why do they have so many guns?

Is it? In real life, police, SWAT and military are told to aim for the center of mass, sure they'd figure it out quickly afterwards, but even then when facing something completely unknown people are never quite as stalwart as they'd like to be. There would be a hell of a lot of people from the US military who would bounce ESPECIALLY considering earlier on you'd have a lot of people a lot more likely to believe they were still people, terrorists would have a field day with it all, and as militarizes around the world hesitated in the faces of the unknown, you would have people who would try to take advantage of the situation. I could totally see North Korea using the virus to reopen the Korean war. All it'd take is something like that. Troops would go MIA, people wouldn't want to die without seeing their families, and fighting seems useless. 'A walker bit my best friend and then I had to shoot him in the head?', "Sure, it looks like a little kid, but you have to shoot it in the head" etc. PTSD is real, and it start IMMEDIATELY after immense stress for some soldiers. TWD world isn't one where everyone's seen at least one zombie movie, Walkers are an absolutely new and terrifying biovirus and in the first few days, there would be soldiers who refused to shoot sick people. And even worse, the really obedient soldiers would quickly become pawns as the systems of order that militarizes so heavily rely on collapsed on themselves. I mean seriously, think about how many people die each second.

That is their business. Not mine, not yours. My personal philosophy is for every room in your domicile there should be a gun. I am currently not there yet.

Very sorry about the delay, the OOC will most likely be up tomorrow. UPDATE 31/01/15: I am currently working on the OOC, the CS, the rules, the description, etc. I will try my best to have it up by tonight. If not, it will definitely be up for Sunday.

Big important question, how long has it been since the outbreak? Almost immediately after, like The start of season 1 of the game? A few weeks/months after like the start of the series? Or years after like season 2 of the game and later seasons of the series?
