If I may add a few things to some of the topics now that I am present? @ The Topic of Learning Shouts: The Greybeards themselves study their entire lives, a lifetime of practice, meditation, and harnessing the power of the Thu'um and they barely know a few full shouts. (FusRoDah, Whirlwind Sprint, and Clear Skies) Ulfric Stormcloak trained with for an undisclosed amount of time, and learned what is labeled as "a shout" which is the same he used to kill the High King. A "dozen or so words" would be one thing, but to learn to shout with those words as well would demand you spend a life-time with the Greybeards. @ The Topic of a Mammoth Mount: Oddly enough.. this isn't the first time this topic has come up in an ESRP I was present for.. I did one quite some time ago with some close friends and a random joiner wanted one, we all voted against for a few simple reasons. Even though this person only wanted it for a "Pack Mount" it is still a Mammoth. It still wields tusks, it would naturally and realistically act as one, and on top of that Mammoth Calves are roughly the size of a large cow, and in the lore they are only tamable by Giants. Of course not everything this rp does is lore-strict, but I still feel it would present OP-opportunities as it is a gigantic Mammal wielding massive ivory weapons and the strength of a titanic mound of flesh. I vote against the Mammoth, sorry.
I kind of have to side with this, but I'm pretty guilty of using that creative freedom to my advantage. The actual Dragonborn died meaning the power of mastering the Voice in a short period of time was lost with him/her. For gameplay, that means the characters have to take down dragons and all sorts of nasty creatures without the advantage the Dragonborn had. And we surely don't have several years to learn a single shout. However, I get the impression he was going to learn to interpret the language a bit. That could be useful! Deciphering between a kill command or a retreat command (just an example) could prove vital. That wouldn't take years and still have its uses! Maybe but probably not too much. As for a mammoth, you can certainly make an entrance but the Dova..group (whatever we are called) don't really have pack animals or mounts. At least I don't believe so. We will also be traversing a lot of narrow and cramped terrain which means a mammoth is not likely to follow or die trying. Similiarly, a mammoth is a massive target with all that wool/hair for a fire-breathing dragon that you might have to be ready to see your companion die. Gameplay-wise it is restrictive and kind of useless, but restrictive and useless items or flaws can make for fun gameplay so whatever the consensus decides, I'm with them! :D But take all that with a pinch of salt, as I did kind of pick an almost extinct race.
