You know... dealing with a dragon menace is scaled to be pretty difficult. Without Dragonrend, we cannot bring them down to the ground to deal the most damage we possibly can. Archers and mages (although dragonhide is probably resistant) would have to bip away at their wings until they can't fly anymore.

Befriending a dragon would be difficult as we don't have a bargaining position. We aren't respectable in their eyes because we haven't mastered the Thu'um so we can't really hitch a ride to the portal of Sovengarde. Parthy is our best bet at an ally here. Unless we perform a capture at Windhelm. Without summoning one. Or have some other anti-Alduin dragon help us out.
