Beyond the Desert Sands
The people of Theris never knew a world beyond the desert sands. In their homes of sandstone bricks, they lived in ignorance. The Theri worshipped Aquitas, the God of the Sun; according to Theri legend, he bathed the lands in his glow to save them from darkness, and in return for their homage, Aquitas granted the Theri good harvest. Who were the Theri to disobey the almighty Aquitas? For it was he who led them out from the dark, who rebuked the demons of the air, and who forced the sands of death to hold back from sweeping away the Theri from the face of the world. The elders of Theris warned the people that straying out of the crop fields and into the barren desert would bring their ruin and kill them all, so the people complied. They believed the unknown desert would unleash its demons if any man stepped forth into the sands. The loving of men, the unholy desires, the demons, all of them came from the evils of the sand and the air. Many stories were passed for generations, but their mantra was the same: anyone who stepped outside of Aquitas's holy gaze met doom and hellfire. The daughter of the Theri chief, blessed with blonde hair reflecting the light of Aquitas, claimed to a world outside of Theris. She envisioned endless plains of flowing water, dirt pillars with green obelisks reaching the stars, and tall dunes made of rock towering above the world. The town thought she was insane. She fought to convince whomever she could, yet she only found audience among the young, gullible enough to believe her fantasy tales...

So, quick question here, but what are Theri names like? I am just asking to see if I can get a grip on what kind of names you are looking for. Also, I am guessing that the majority of the Theri people are tan looking and are likely to have darker hair colors. Though, would it be possible to play somebody with a hair color on the lighter side?

Some names will flow really smooth off the tongue, and other names will stagger out rough and accented. Aquiet (AH-KWEE-ET), for instance, could be a female name, and Thint could be a male name. Just be exotic about it, and try to avoid making a name that sounds too Tolkien-esque or too Japanese. They have anywhere from tan to dark skin, but their hair can be any natural color. Red hair is extremely rare, blond hair is somewhat uncommon, but brown or black hair is the most prevalent. Eyes are usually brown or black, but sometimes Mother Nature happens upon green eyes and blue eyes.

Its late, I'll complete this tomorrow. ___ Name: Tashan Dalen Age: 18 Gender: Male Appearance: Tashan is fairly normal, tan skin and dark hair. However what puts him against the rest is his eyes, due to a training accident he has a brown eye and a pale grey one. Above that he is more heavily built than most, having an athletic build born from years of guardsman training and several scars from fights with others. Personality: Biography: Keep it brief.

Aloha, I'd like to try n join in. I know magic is largely not believed to exist and I tried to incorporate that aspect of the lore into my character, hope that's not a problem. Name: Ishan Salil Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Ishan stands at 6'3 with short, curly black hair, amber eyes, and midtone brown skin reminiscent of coffee mixed with a dollop of milk. He has a lithe muscular frame, his arms slightly longer than normal which are met with large hands and long fingers. Behind his mask is a smiling face with an upturned aristocratic nose, with his right eyebrow split in two from a scar he received as a boy. The soles of his feet are dark and firm, tempered by years of walking barefoot in the scalding summer sands. Isham day to day would wear a long robe that concealed him down to his ankles. Before his imprisonment he was wearing the ceremonial garb of his family's heretical religion which consisted of a mask made from the bark of the palms and a skirt of the palms' fronds, bound by leather straps. Reference Personality: "Violence is a tool meant only to defend the lives of those I love." -Ishan Salil "I love all of my brothers and sisters who walk these lands." -Ishan Salil Ishan lives a life of pacifism, refusing to strike someone who would do him harm, only willing to raise his fist in defense of those who cannot defend themselves. He will show love and compassion to every person he meets, including those that have slighted him in the past. He is a calm spirit, quick to act once he has decided his feelings on a matter. His levelheadedness is only matched by his stubbornness. He will take time deciding, but once he has, he dedicates himself to that decision with all of his heart. Biography: A mother knows something is horribly wrong when I child emerges without a cry. Isham was born deaf and mute. His handicap, a death sentence to members of the poorest class, was only a hindrance as his family had the wealth to find those that could help their deaf son become a functioning member of society. By the time he was of schooling age he could read lips, write, read, perform sign language, and speak (with little grace). On Isham's 11th birthday his father, Zayn, took him to a hidden cellar beneath their home. Its walls were lined with shelves of books, many in a language Isham had never before read. The wall farthest from the door held a simple shrine to the moon, a long curved blade sitting at the base of the shrine, two burning pots of coals sizzling at both sides. His father instructed him to watch his lips and learn the words he spoke. Flames licked his fathers fingertips as his father whispered prayer to the goddess of the moon, giving him his first taste of magic. He ceased going to school the following year, Zayn opting to teach him of their family secrets which was much more important a tradition to keep alive than a simple education. Four years into his education Zayn and Isham were finally caught sneaking into the hidden room during the dead of night where an investigation was launched and their hidden shrine was discovered. The two were dragged through the city in their shamanistic garbs of masks made from the bark of palm trees and skirts made of palm trees, bound by leather bands with inscripted stones tied to the belt. Zayn faced execution on their first night, while Isham's execution has yet to come. Isham has come to accept his fate, dwelling on the final words of his father, "Those who would kill us for what we know do not deserve to see what we're capable of."

Meters with information on them like timers and ammo counts and energy measures. Could be useful for limiting magic and such.

That definitely could be neat. If it requires a lot of user input though it might put off some people. Really depends on how numbers based you want this RP to be.

I'd think that a gauge would be good. Maybe it could be items that slowly draw in energy, such as the inscribed stones Marx's character has. Carrying too many of them weighs the person down, and each one could be a unit of energy.

Name: H'yo Sahriin Age: 17 Gender: M Appearance: H'yo has relatively pale skin, with a tan "mask" across his green eyes. His solid-colored black hair is too thick to style, so he generally has to keep it somewhat messy. His "shirt" is really just an extremely long piece of navy-blue cloth wrapped snug around his body, loosening into something similar to bell sleeves. The excess goes around his head and neck, forming a scarf of sorts. His pants are fairly normal, and are made out of tan canvas. H'yo stands at 5'11" and weighs about 136 pounds. Despite being relatively well-built, his slender frame makes him seem thinner than he actually is. A length of chain is wrapped around his waist, like a belt. Personality: Despite his incredibly apathetic appearance and serious personality, H'yo has a surprising range of emotions. He's protective of people that he considers a "friend", which is a rather broad area, as it extends to people that have merely shown kindness to him. However, to those that he's actually very close to, his protectiveness turns into intense possessiveness; though it doesn't show through his apathetic mask, simply talking to the person in question agitates him immensely. H'yo has a tendency to self-righteously use his protective nature as an excuse to hurt someone. He speaks in a polite manner, even when he's intentionally being rude. His objectivity gives him a strong believe in honesty, but tends to be roundabout when pointing out other's flaws. Biography: The Sahriin family was a long line of bodyguards that had several ties with important figures. However, their prestige had suddenly fallen after the discovery of their worship of the moon, where they continued in a downward spiral towards the bottom of the social ladder. But during the thirty-fourth generation, their fame once again rose when H'yo's great great grandfather defended a group of wealthy people from thieves. Rapidly their influence increased, eventually surpassing even the original peak of their name's power with H'yo's father, who was chosen to be one of the chief's personal guard. While H'yo grew up, he was raised with the intent of him eventually taking his father's position. Too young to change the decision, he took strenuous mental training that slowly faded away his amiable personality. He did, however, manage to keep a scrap of it; his protective/possessive nature was unintentionally born from his clinginess to others, and that clinginess developed into it from his mother's words: "Make them important to you, and protect them because they are." After a year of working with various clients, a rumor has begun floating around that the chief was considering him to protect his daughter....
