Eh, not really the case. I've always thought it was a cynical bullshit day that accomplishes little more than to pressure guys not to fuck up spoiling their girlfriends and spending large amounts of money on horribly marked up shit that's largely disposable or outright unnecessary because modern Western society decided we should eat the shit out of marketing ploys because apparently it's the day of the year you are supposed to pull out all stops to try and impress somebody in the exact same fashion as millions of other people. There is nothing romantic or meaningful about any of it. Know what day I can use to pamper my girl and show her undying devotion and love? Any fucking other day of the year. Or better yet, anniversary., when it means marking a milestone.Just because some suits say we should all follow their bullshit expectations doesn't mean we have to.
I can agree with some of those points, though only people that don't truly understand the meaning of dedicating a day to your loved one will go "all out" and "spend a fuck ton of money" to "impress some girl." For some that are too busy to always take time out to appreciate their SO, v-day is a good excuse for things to slow down and get with the atmosphere. Not to mention, I think strip clubs have vday specials that hubby and I can take advantage of. Just sayin'.
