First off, I'm just going to mention my own distate at not having the one weakness that, is the most important one of vampires. 

But what's stopping you from just using the Mana, or really anything to ignore the weaknesses of the vampire? If you are already cutting the primary weakness (I'm just saying Death by Sun is primary weakness as frankly it is one of the most important ones) through an enchanted item.

Honestly I feel that the characters should just be human(oid) mages. As you are already cutting out the most important things of being a vampire.
