Well, I think the catch is that they would have to combine their efforts to create an energy coating strong/thick enough for the barrier to take time to absorb it. That way, in theory, it should allow them to pass through without getting annihilated by the barrier. It also makes them sort of vulnerable upon entering the interior of the barrier and it gives my character a thrill kick. XD

We can develop the plot to get to that point if you want to spend more time outside of the barrier.
