The Monster of Ember Peaks
Stories tell of a huge creature dwelling in the Ember Peaks, terrorizing those foolish enough to venture in its territory. A creature so terrifying, that the mountains had been left alone for so many years now. But the stories had been forgotten, lost in the flow of time.
A group of miners returned to the mountains, only to be welcomed by the creature's wrath. More incidents have been occurring there since - a bunch of wanderers getting burnt to a crisp, a mere patrol troop fleeing in fear and more. This again, led to many stories about the fierce creature. A terror it has been for too long. But that is about to change.
The nearby city, Tremshire, called upon those who are skilled to see to it that this creature is stopped. The city's council offered a huge reward for those who will successfully finish the task.
Locations
The Ember Peaks
•The Ember Peaks is a mountain range far in the west. Its tops are usually lined with a glowing mixture of red and yellow, which has been told be lava. The mountains have tunnels on their feet, which used to be mines for the nearby city of Tremshire. There have been people who climbed to the top, however that was before the rumors of the creature began.
City of Tremshire
•Tremshire is a city that thrives on trades and mining. It has a rich environment, enough for the city to still maintain economic stability despite being deprived of mining. The citizens are hospitable and usually hold a feast every 11 days, as a thanksgiving to the gods and their assistance.
Fort Goldface
•Fort Goldface is a building outside the city's borders. It was used as a place to rest and stop by when the mines of Ember Peaks were still of use. Now, it is used as an outpost to see and warn anyone who plans to enter the mines. This is also where the brave travellers will meet.
Silverbeard's Mines
•The mines are named after the dwarf who started digging the holes into the mountain and finding its riches. It uses to be Tremshire's main source of income and resources, but since the creature appeared, it has been abandoned.
Magic
The use of magic is very abundant in this world, some use it for their daily activities, some for their leisure and some in their professions. Despite its common use, magic is not inborn and must be studied in order to be able to utilize it. Though many have been taught the basics in their early age, some have no experience on magic at all.
Types of Magic
There are three types of magic in this world, mainly:
Anima Magic
•This is the most common type used. Anima magic focuses heavily on the use of the elements for almost anything - offense, defense, utility. This type of magic has many basic spells for almost anyone to use, yet it also has the most complex ones, which requires years of study.
Sacred Magic
•This magic is commonly used by those following the Order of Light, like paladins and priests. It focuses on the use of powers of gods and spirits, unlike Anima magic. This magic needs to be studied before use, due to the risk it possesses.
Rune Magic
•This magic is rarely seen, due to it being complicated and the lack of information some has. This is an ancient magic, dating back since the creation of the world. It uses runes, which can be found in different sources - ancient writings, books, terrains, or even marked in the parts of the body. This magic is almost like Anima magic, but gives off more impact and effectivity. This being said, only a few who are skilled enough are able to use this with ease.
Races
There are many kinds of living civilized beings in this world, each one unique and different.
Humans
•Humans is the most abundant race by far, usually taking up most of a city's population. They have been showing progress in all kinds of fields, but there is one thing that they are in the lead - technology. Though technology in this world is unlike ours, the latest creation that they have made is a fully functional giant steam golem.
Elves
•Elves are the long-eared counterpart of humans. They are usually attuned to nature and magic, and most of them move with speed and grace. Though their looks might make them seem useless in combat, they have proven that like books, they are not to be judged by the looks.
Dwarves
•Dwarves are usually half the size of an average human, and most of them have long locks or beards. They are the brave and loyal mountain dwellers(not to Ember Peaks in this case) and are usually the better smiths than most. They have a little problem about treasure obsession, though.
Vix
•The Vix are just like humans who grew the ears and tails of a fox. The number of tails usually tell how many decades they have lived. Though being aligned with mischief and trickery, they are quite the opposite - they trust too easy and are kind to a fault. Unlike other races, they can easily detect if magic is being used or has been used near them.
Fiern
The Fiern are humans with very obvious feline properties(or simply a nekomimi). Despite usually being called cute or adorable, they possess strength twice that of human's.
