No, because a robot isn't going to become exceptionally inefficient when it's stricken with disease or injured, it can work contentiously without pause (at least for a set duration; mechanical degradation will, eventually, put it into the maintenance shop) and it won't launch rebellions that can potentially bring your empire to the brink of collapse ([url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Servile_Wars[/url]). Slavery might be viable as a stop-gap measure for a conquering army that needs to construct a land-side facility of some sort in a hurry, but a faction that relies on slave labor for its production needs will be out-performed by a faction that utilizes extensive automation. In the case of legitimate paid workers, a robot won't go on strike, it won't call off of work for petty reasons and it won't steal company property. 

You save a gargantuan amount of financial capital by decreasing the human presence in the production area.
