because the R.Z.E's planetary shields are generated by orbital defense platforms, sure you could hammer away at the shields and eventually a portion of it would fall allowing entry, or you could try your luck trying to take down one of the Orbital Defense Platforms, which would result in a slightly larger portion of the planetary shield falling where the platform was lost.
