As we all know, I'm in for Christianity. Can't have Charles XII without it.
So I did some insane maths (literal rocket science) and found out how to make airships cost effective. PROBLEM: Firing regular guns produces CRAZY recoil, and regular naval guns are incredibly heavy and big. So, as a solution, I present the most steampunk thing ever. SOLUTION: The Resian Rocket Bargeā„¢! A small, essentially unarmored (armor above small arms/flak levels in the magazines and on the balloons) ship that is for air to ground operations. Somewhat accurate Hale rockets fired at 8000 feet can go approx 10 km and since your target is an army, the accuracy doesn't matter. There is no recoil and many more rockets can be carried than shells.
You know, we kinda have antigravity tech, and we all know that steam engines here are a bajillion times better than they are IRL. We just gave ourselves a means of propulsion good enough to power a normal plane, so we can actually have fighters. Of course, we also gave that plane antigravity so it only needs wings for the maneuvering surfaces. This means that the wings can be smaller. Do you know what this means? (If you do, and somehow know what I'm talking about, you win an undefined number of Keyguy points)
