Once more, they were caught 3 meters away from Meruin and locked in place, however, the scythe of Elza completely bypassed whatever barrier was responsible and raced towards the short mage.

The scythe impacted against a shining rune placed in the air, causing the force to rebound towards Elza. The barrier also came with a curse that lowered stamina - the symbol of the curse was a tattoo of a withering tree that appeared on a random limb.
