Ro has trouble understanding the team because she feels cut off
Among her people her caste serve as the combat link and commanders.
Her telepathy is powerful enough to link the entire team together as a unit allowing them communications that can't be detected or hacked; oh no worries about her covertly scanning any thoughts you aren't presently thinking (such as those comments you post openly that your character is thinking) She would have to be ordered by higher command to scan anyone forcibly because she was taught that non telepathic races minds are an unclean nest of lies and impure thoughts.
She doesn't trust anyone of you but in combat will defend you if you are in danger and she is able to respond effectively.
She's prejudiced of course but only because she's been taught her own superiority; hell even among her own caste she's been taught she's superior and has been since birth.
