He had two older brothers and one older sister -- Domingo, Dean, and Maisha. His father was a painter and part time substitute teacher World War II Marine veteran. His father was of Mexican descent whereas his mother was African-American. At only the age of eleven, his father died of cancer. This passing was not one that Driff would take lightly. In fact, his father's death would affect him for the rest of his life. The death of his father left him depressed and lonely, looking for someone to latch onto. His mother was never available as she worked two jobs to support the family. Driff was a straight edge kid who never got in trouble, but his brothers were entirely different; they would get caught up with the wrong crowd and get involved with "hood things" as Driff put it due to the lack of their father. Driff could distinctly remember as a kid, everytime Christmas would come around his mom would have to hustle on the Christmas grind to be able to get the presents. Life was tough as a kid for Driff without his father in the slums of Cleveland, but he powered through. As Driff would grow older he would attempt to "piece the puzzle of the universe" as he put it in his songs. He would try and figure out the world so he could find closure and soothe his grief. At around 16, Driff would begin to get symptoms of an insomniac. He could no longer sleep at night anymore, always tossing and turning with no where to go. He was in an isolated state of dismay and depression, almost like the dark side of the moon. It was also around this time that Driff began rapping. His first album was titled "The Legacy of the Man on the Moon" to signify the way he felt. He would keep rapping, only to experience short spurts of fame. At one point he became extremely famous for his hit single "Night N' Day" but this would only leave him to fade into obscurity yet again. At one point, Driff harbored a marijuana addiction so strong that he attended rehab for it. After being discharged he decided to head to his Aunt's house in Pallasburgh to get away from the big city and the drugs and just recollect his head a little bit -- Maybe even get inspiration for his new album.
