Aye, I acknowledge your point- but double his width in muscle, give him stone-heavy bones, and do you think the giants woudl be able to reasonably ride a horse? A Knight in full armor can only ride a horse so much- and giants are easily heavier, without armor. 

And stop taking everything so literal- what is a dog? "Man's best friend." A horse to a giant is  a similar relationship, though more intelligent in many ways.

God, if I knew there would be such hard understanding of giants that aren't ten stories tall, I wouldn't have bothered.
