Ok- let me crash into him with my guy's shuttle.

The shuttle vehicle my character is starting in would be that of combat transportation, carrying a dozen or more units similar to SUMI himself, but only the shuttle AI and SUMI was turned on. The less intelligent AI went on a pre-determined course, SUMI waking up during transit, and the shuttle AI will run out of fuel, and drop out of the sky.
