A Strange Gathering
The lantern continued to sway slightly as the constant whirring from the trunk sent vibration through out its dead branches. Frowning childishly Eveline did her best to keep to the edge of the fungi, her pale dress taking on the same tone as her skins as the black spores and powder from the plant coated her slightly, a small streak of black smeared across her forehead when she went to wipe it readjusting her flower crown, the bright red and pink peonies still shimmering brightly in the lamp light. She always loved climbing, and was almost giddy at the fact she was climbing on giant mushrooms, she had never seen any so big before, it as exhilarating at this point she wanted to keep climbing just as much as she wanted to reach the strange source of purple light. The soothing sounds of the forest were interrupted by a man's voice, causing the girl to frown slightly as she turned around once more walking to the edge of the mushroom. In the soft dim glow of the lantern should could make out the silhouette of a man down on the ground, she vaguely remembered him from early as he looked around frantically calling out before his bright red bile grew eerily where the light hit it. Tilting her head, Eveline watched as his calling stirred the last laying figure on the platform, her bracelet tinkling clearly against the hollow silence where the strange man's voice had silenced the music of the forest. Her eyes narrowed slightly as foreign tongue filled the air, the girl didn't like it, it sounded harsh on her ears. She wasn't used to people speaking in her forest, and was hoping this new one would be no different, a slight frown etching it's way on her mouth as she watched them head towards her tree as well, she wondered if either of them knew the meaning of being quiet, of letting the forest sing to them. Shaking her head, she caught wind of the soft footsteps of someone much closer to her, a pleased smile reforming back on the woodland girls face as she peered down over the edge again catching sight of the boy from earlier. Clapping slightly Eveline debated on waiting and letting the lone figure catch up or continue her climb towards the bright lantern, but waiting meant giving the loud ones time to catch up as well and she really didn't much care for them. The boy was different he was quiet and seemed almost as pleased to be here as she was. Humming softly Eveline grinned as the forest recovered from the interruptions, the lone hoot of an owl echoing, as the rest joined in the song. She would imagine most would find it unsettling and daunting, this place, it didn't seem like either sun or moon light would ever grace the floors of the forest, the canopy wasn't extremely thick by any means yet it seemed to eat the light for the lantern greedily. 'Such a strange place, how did we get here...' She wondered silently before giggling plopping down on the edge of the fungi, her blackened legs danging off the edge as she waited for the others, mainly the boy to catch up watching his progress curiously the closer he got the more unsure she was that he was a he, perhaps it was the light but the messenger boy had rather feminine features it's confused the girl as she shook her head returning her gaze to the two down below wondering just what was going on. The warm glow of the lantern splayed across her back beckoning and calling her to continue her ascent.
