When we first created fire, to when we first created machines. But now? When we have forgotten so much? We have to rediscover what has already been discovered, it’s a long and strenuous task. But there are always brave men and women with an iron will, wanting to go into the area we call the Shatterzone. A part of our world broken and destroyed by what some call the wrath of the gods, where landmasses smashed together to form tremendous mountains, where massive beasts roam and thrive on the chaos, and the land itself froze in the sky, never to come down again. Where fallen airships lie, their guns silenced and their hulls ripped asunder by creatures who can rend metal apart as if it were paper. Where the secrets of the past lay locked away, ancient relics long lost, holding unimaginable power. That is why we wish to rediscover, to find ourselves again, to find the secrets and relics, and to regain that part of us which is lost. There have been many who have sought out the treasures of the Shatterzone, some returned home with revolutionary devices, weaponry, riches untold. But they are the exception, and to survive, you must be exceptional. The previous two Armada Class Exploratory Vessels, the Red Fury, helmed by Lord Stehmahr Gearheart, and the Harlequin Stage helmed by Duke Tobias Prinzhorn. Both were entrusted with the prized vessels of the Order of Progression, ships refurbished from before the shatter, some of the most advanced machines in existence. There are no laws in the Shatterzone, pirates run rampant in the sky on stolen Airships, and a cult of unknown origin frequently emerges from the mist of the Zone to claim technology on the outer circle. For what purpose the Order does not yet know, but they have proven to be hostile, and are to be avoided at all costs. Stick with us, keep your head down, and listen to what the Captain tells you, and you could see things no man was ever meant to, good and bad. You could see the past, and we'll bring it back to shape the future. Welcome to the Armada Class Explorer Ship, Tychon the Cobalt Trireme. Steel yourself for the unexpected and unknown. Additional intel will come in the briefing. Any questions?
>>Lore<<

New technology is worth its three times its weight in gold. So far, the current public technology level is just after WW1, with the higher technology being rarer and more expensive. Things such as cars and guns, despite their existence, are usually limited to the higher class. Typically a person who is not of higher class, would have to prove themselves in some shape or form. For example, a person with a pistol would have to prove themselves in a marksmanship tournament hosted by a noble, or a very wealthy person. Alternatively, they could be an Agent of The Order. The group with the most technology, and highest technology is the Order, who spends their days studying such things in hopes of understanding them. What is far more common to the common warrior, are bows, crossbows, swords, spears, etc. What should also be considered is 'magic', a thing of unknown origin, which allows individuals to well, do magic things. Such as shoot fireballs. A good thing also, to consider, is that what we will be encountering in the Shatterzone. Guns may not be the ideal weapon to use against the creatures we may face. Magic. If you ask someone how it all works, most will have no idea. If you ask the most experienced mages in the world. They still don't have any idea. The way people cast magic is through verbal commands. Another way is through tome, or spellbook. These don't require verbal casting, just an activation phrase, or a touch. However, tome spells are inflexible, for example, fireballs from a tome, unless specified by the tome, will only produce a fireball that goes straight where it is aimed. However, a verbal spell could change the direction of the fireball, or perhaps change it into a phoenix. However, there is a much different type of spellcasting, Tacit casting. This type of casting is extremely rare. If you ask a Tacit caster how magic works. If you ask a Tacit Caster how magic works, if they trust you, they will say that there is a world of primordial beings and creatures that exist separate to ours. Verbal casting is sort of borrowing power from these beings. While Tacit casting draws power directly from them. When a person is on the cusp of becoming a tacit mage, one of these creatures, usually appearing as some sort of animal, directly contacts this person and makes a deal. The deals can vary in severity, some, only want a friend, others, might demand the soul. If the deal goes through, the mage will be able to cast spells with no tome or verbal command. They may also summon their new friend as a familiar, and these familiars are extremely powerful. When not summoned, these familiars usually hang around their mage, being transparent to everyone save for other tacic mages. When summoned, they appear as ghostly apparitions. The speed and efficiency of which tacic mages cast, as well as the fact that they give no hints as to what spell they are casting next makes them extremely dangerous. Usually it takes a tacic mage to take down another tacic mage.

Jilkrid: A race incredibly similar to humans with the exception of their extremely lilthe body compositions and feline features, having feline ears rather than human ones, and cat-like irises. Having no true homeland, anywhere there are Humans one can expect to find the Jilkrid, they have been known to be very agile, giving them the stereotypes of “pickpockets” and “street-cats”. Humans: Humanity fled the Shatter, and thus they were forced to adopt new homes. They settled upon three continents, Atrea, the bountiful homestead Agrarean society, Teieya, the Land-Locked Coastal region, and Isilum, the land of the Commonwealth Setra: Race of large, intelligent humanoid insects who hail from the Eastern Continent of Litem. They are a peculiar race, with a religion focused around the worship of a great and mighty Crustacean God, the significance of the Crab is unknown, though Patriarchal Setra seem to inexplicably develop almost crab-like pincers on their pedipalps. They traditionally wear vibrant colors such as Red and Orange for religious practice. They have a peculiar form of governing wherein the Patriarchs will leave position for a week in favor for a Matriarchal council, supposedly to have an equal viewpoint on all things. They are intelligent and curious by nature, most on average are more intelligent than humans. Fäldkrests: A proud race of Scaled and Winged men who believe themselves to be descendants of the mighty Dragons of Old. While they are unable to fly, they are able to glide short distances, given proper wind and height.Hailing from the mountainous region extremely close to the Outer Shatterzone, they are naturally hardy. They are extremely strong-willed and charismatic because of their prideful nature, and as such make excellent leaders. Halflings: Half-Bloods created from the conception of a child from a Jilkrid and a Human. They lose their animalistic features. Because of their odd nature, they are often prejudiced against. However, the mixture of blood gives them great magical potential, as some of history’s greatest Archmages have been Halflings. Fae: [Classified]

Atrea, a landlocked country, most of which is farmland. Atrea is a land of trade, cultivation, and peace. Atrean people are very generous, welcoming and kind, making this a very desirable place to live. Atrea is mostly made up of villages, having few large cities. Teieya, Coastal region, with many peninsulas and bays. Much of the population resides by the coast, in coastal fishing villages or port cities. Teieya enjoys much trade with Atrea, being Atrea’s neighbor. The wet navy of Teieya is very impressive, and their air navy is nothing to laugh at. More inland, lumber and mining towns are plenty, as well as trading posts. Teieya is a very wealthy and powerful nation. Isilum, the land of the Commonwealth, is where most of Humanity went after the Shatter. A primarily human land, Isilum is a place of mountain ranges. The air navy is the most powerful in the world, and as such, Isilum Captains are often the ones who lead exploration ships. The Isilum people are very proud, being the most ‘cultured’, as they claim. Despite that, they really do resemble modern society, with nightlife sections in cities, which are full of towers and tall buildings. Theatres, restaurants, musicians and artists, this is a country where anyone can make a good bit of coin. Isilum has many urban cities on their mountain ranges, and a good amount of farming towns in the valleys in between their mountain ranges. Litem, in the Eastern part of the world. Litem is untouched by Humanity. It holds the tallest mountains in the world, and the deepest chasms, excluding the Shatterzone. There are few cities, its people preferring to live in villages and towns on the mountain side. There is a very oriental feel to Litem and its people. The Pikelands, the very mountainous and barren lands, near the Shatterzone. There is not much to say about the Pikelands, not many live there, save for the Fäldkrests, who live in small villages. Most of the Fäldkrests are nomadic. The Port-Citystates The only land The Order officially owns. There are four major ports, and countless smaller ones. Port-Citystate Titanicus, run by Archmagus Gardet. Titanicus is the oldest port. Said to be the first landing of humans when they fled the Shatter. Despite its position in Isilum, both Atrea and Teieya have strong influences there, as they both have helped The Order develop the port from generations ago. Titanicus is as the same suggests, the port is titanic. Massive drydocks and shipyards, libraries and halls full of strange artifacts. The Orders’ Royal Family lives here, further contributing to the amount of libraries. Many Adepts and Disciples train here. Port Visus, run by Archmagus Deiosis. Port Visus prides itself as the most recent of the four major ports, having been constructed relatively recently on new Isilum soil, finished just 10 years ago. The Port is less of a port and more of a fortress. It’s close proximity to The Shatterzone demands that its defences are much greater than normal. Massive walls and guns line the coasts that Visus stands on. Port Visus’s walls have several skeletons of strange creatures hung up on the walls, trophies of battle. Port Desm, run by Archmagus Lekeson, despite its strange location in the northern part of the continent, Port Desm is a valued port due to its expertise in unstable technologies and magic. Many experienced researchers in the Order and the Guild live in Desm to avoid the popularity of the other ports. Because of this large population of researchers, many brand new technologies go to Desm first. Port Tanith, run by Archmagus Wikolok. Port Tanith is a Port that specializes in marine life. Many of the aquatic creatures found in Shatterzone Waters goes straight to Port Tanith, and its massive aquariums. Other branches of Port Tanith works with the biological aspect of technologies and magic. If suspected medical artifacts are found, often times Tanith will find itself in the possession of said artifacts.

The Order of Progress While most would never dare set foot in the Shatterzone, the Order willingly traverses the chaotic zone in search of relics and knowledge to study. In hopes of understanding the past, and how to replicate the technology that was lost. Pledging no allegiance to any single nation, the Order resides in several separate Port-City States, ruled by an Archmagus. The Archmagus then has his Council, made up of the senior TechMagus, BioMagus, and ScholaMagus. These three Magus’ have their own students, Adepts, who lead Disciples. All of the Archmagus’ then form a greater Council, which decides upon major decisions. There is a Royal Family in the Order, but they only hold a position on the Greater Council, they were made the Royal Family for their innate knowledge of the ancients and their massive library of catalogs, and more. The Order itself is not racist in the least, they are only interested in knowledge of the past and if someone has the cognitive ability to do basic math, they’ll like you. The way the Order does things is based upon the Archmagus’ at the time, so as a whole, the behaviour of the Order changes on a whim. The Mage Guild With the recent boom of magic users, a guild has been formed. Although young, this guild is powerful, and models itself after the Order of Progress. The ultimate goal of this Guild is to merge with the Order, and to become a branch which studies magical artifacts and phenomenon. So far, the relations between The Mage Guild and The Order is very good. The Order allows the Mage Guild to study the already vast collection of magical artifacts in the vaults where the Order keeps things they don't yet understand. The United Lands of Atrea An absolute monarchy, lead by the royal family of Atrea. Atrea is separated into smaller lands, governed by Dukes and Lords. These Dukes/Lords serve as a council to the King and Queen of Atrea. The military of Atrea is small, but they're not a fighting nation to begin with.
