The primary application of his power is control over magnetism and the manipulation of ferrous and nonferrous metal. While the maximum amount of mass he can manipulate at one time is unknown, he has been shown to have surges of power when his anger takes over. This allows him to manipulate larger objects when he is in this enraged state. He can also affect non-metallic and non-magnetic objects to a lesser extent and frequently levitates himself and others. He can also generate electromagnetic pulses of great strength and generate and manipulate electromagnetic energy. Skills: In addition to his powers, Erik has many other skills. He is a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, particle physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. Fluent in multiple languages, including German, Russian, Dutch, and English. Aside from his ability to manipulate metals, being a doctor, he has extensive knowledge on how bodies work. He can remain calm under pressure and has no problem performing impromptu surgery if the need arises. He is a well skilled fighter, learning most of his techniques from Logan. Personality: Erik’s personality was forged by his war experiences: both the helplessness he felt when he and his family were prisoners in the Nazi camps, and the lengths to which he and the people around him had to go in order to survive. The weird mix of ruthlessness and idealism that drives him was born out of the extremes of courage and cruelty that he witnessed living in concentration camps. It’s because of those experiences that he cleaves so strongly to his own kind, and that his reaction when faced with prejudice or race hatred is to hit back 10 times harder. He has a persistent desire to be strong and teach his fellow mutants how to be strong in a world fueled by hatred. He almost fears being weak or feeling helpless. Often times her keeps his deepest desires and feelings locked inside, only really being able to open up to Charles or Logan. On the outside he is a calm contrast to the raging emotions under the surface. Position in School: Teacher - Power Control / Humans & Us 208. Background: "I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again." He was a man of medicine, born in Austria. His parents were Jews, but Erik was a man of science. Erik had become very interested in biology, and medicine when he, at the age of 7, discovered he could move metal objects with his mind. Wanting to learn more about his power fueled his desire to study hard, and he became a doctor at the mere age of 19. Opening his own clinic, he was content helping people while researching as much as he could after hours. He wanted to find out if there were others like him, but it seemed impossible. Who could he tell? What if he was the only one? His fears held him back, and for some time he stopped searching, focusing on his work as his first priority. Soon after, he met his wife, whom was of strong Jewish belief, and two years later, they had a son. Their lives were wonderful for a time. He had forgotten about trying to find answers about his abilities, and lived a happy life with his new family. Then came the SS-Soldiers. Tricking him and his wife, along with their son, Claus, and their Daughter, Adria, into coming to Germany. To the concentration camps they went in 1942 despite trying to protest. If they fought or argued, they'd be threatened, and complied in fear. They were forced to work for another year and a half. Getting out and keeping his family safe was always at the forefront on Erik's mind. At a point, he remembered he had the ability to move metal objects with his mind, but could not find it in him to tap into his ability like he could as a child. He was weaker, only able to move small, handheld objects with intense concentration. When the war was about to end in favor of the allied forces, the Germans were ordered to "deal" with the prisoners at the camps. Erik overheard a group of guards talking about killing off everyone in the camps, and in desperation, attempted to escape with his wife and kids. They were found out before they could get ten feet outside the gates, and his children were shot, right in front of him. his wife also perished in the gunfire, catching a bullet meant for him. Erik's powers got unhinged. More powerful than anyone would've imagined. The entire camp was destroyed. In a blind rage, he mustered all his inner strength and killed every single one of the soldiers. The buildings were torn down, a few turned into metal wrecking balls used to destroy everything else and the prisoners that hadn't died as collateral by Erik's anger, escaped. Erik was rescued by people who came to the camp, looking for loved ones, and taken to England, where he was approached by Xavier, whom offered him solidarity, understanding, but most of all, brotherhood. Erik joined Charles, and the two have spent the last year and a half recruiting young mutants. Erik vowed to himself that he would never let those who were under his protection, die in front of him again. He realized that anger was what fueled his power. Despite Charles' attempts to get him to find another source of power, they have been unsuccessful. Him and Logan have gotten closer as well. Erik has agreed to not treat Logan like his own personal metal-boned puppet, in exchange for some lessons in close combat. The two don't practice often, their duties to the students often getting in the way of them being free at the same time. For now, Erik bides his time. He fears of another upcoming holocaust of sorts, in which mutants will be captured and exterminated much like he witnessed back in the camp. That fear is now what holds him so closely with Xavier's idea of teaching other mutants to use their powers. The difference, is that Erik sees in Xavier, an ambition towards world peace between humans and mutants. Erik wants no such thing. He is more focused on the survival of his kind. The humans will be allowed to coexist with them if they behave. If not, well... that is no concern of his.
