Edo-Beatrix
The tan woman stopped walking when Mayt started asking her questions about the Dragon Chain Cannon. She faced him and Penny but didn't walk back to them. "The Dragon Chain Cannon," she began. "It's probably on one of the cliffs overlooking the city. What it's going to do is fire a magical chain across the sky." With one of her hands, she pointed towards the sky and made an arc across it, ending with her finger pointing at what appeared to be a large mountain just outside the city. "It will latch onto the fallen kingdom of Extalia and drag it across the city, crushing everything in its path. Including us." Edo-Beatrix brought her hand back down and looked them in the eyes. "Once the cannon fires, this city is gone. It just needs enough magic to fire. That was part of Maddox's plan... to instigate fighting down here so he can capture you Earthlanders. But the fact you're using magic means he doesn't need to capture you..." Her sentence trailed off as she heard the thunderous boom come from the direction of Damien and Maddox. In her mind she assumed it was of no importance and that Edo-Maddox would still be victorious, but simple curiosity made her look over. Maddox was on the ground with Damien above him, victorious. She watched in silent disbelief as Damien dealt the killing blow. Now ignoring Mayt and Penny, she slowly walked over to Viper's body and knelt down next to his head. Her eyes were clearly tearing up, but she didn't break down and cry. She could hardly believe someone was able to kill him, but she knew this was for the best. For the world and for Maddox himself. His eyes were still open, staring lifelessly into the sky. But the most striking feature about his body was the smile on his face. It wasn't malicious nor was it cynical. The tears rolled down Edo-Beatrix's cheeks, but still she maintained her composure. "I'm sorry... if I was smarter, or perhaps stronger, you wouldn't have gone down this path," she spoke to Maddox. Her right hand went up and wiped the tears from her eyes and she choked back the urge to break down. After clearing her vision she looked back down at the dead villain. "You brought this on yourself, Maddy... It was hard but now it's all over." Edo-Beatrix looked up now, her eyes settling on the nearby Staff of the Ancients that Maddox had dropped earlier. On the palace rooftop, the silent twin was in battle with Edo-Karn when he heard the thunderclap from below. He had dodged the blonde's attacks rather fluidly, showing off his ninja-like agility. Rather than continue with ranged attacks, he had withdrawn two daggers and held them both in a reverse-grip. Before he could continue his assault on the injured Phoenix Wing member, he looked down to the courtyard to identify the source of the sound. He was clearly shocked, despite his lack of words, at the sight of Damien finishing off Maddox. But unlike Edo-Beatrix's reaction, a wicked grin formed on his face instead. Turning his attention back to Edo-Karn, he gave the blonde a sarcastic wave goodbye before removing an explosive from his pockets. Giving it a light toss towards Karn's feet, he jumped backwards off the rooftop and made his way down by dropping down from window sills. While completing his original objective is good, taking advantage of this new opportunity was much better. The assassin dashed across the courtyard, already mapping out his escape route to get back to the cannon. He just needed one thing first. Before he could reach the Staff of the Ancients, however, he saw Edo-Beatrix pick the staff up. A look of anger formed on his face as he held his hand out toward her, making it clear he wanted the weapon. The tan woman looked into the snake eyes on it for a moment, examining the red glow they had. Then she gripped it in both hands and smashed the head of the staff into the ground with a shout of effort. The silent twin was mortified as the weapon was shattered. A powerful blast of energy was released from the impact, sending both Edo-Beatrix and the assassin flying backwards. Beatrix managed to land on her rear, but the assassin landed on his hands and feet skillfully. If he wasn't angry before, the vein bulging on his forehead proved he was irate with Beatrix now. She stood back up to her feet and wiped her chin. "I'm done with this, River," she told him. But the assassin seemed displeased. He withdrew his daggers again, preparing to strike Beatrix down on his way out of the palace courtyard.
