This is a Sci-Fi Military roleplay. Your characters will be the general away team for an interstellar ship that is investigating exactly who your enemy is, since almost nothing is known about them. You are all from the planet Divitia, the manufactured homeworld of a nearly-human species. Everything else is explained below. (I will have multiple away teams should a lot of people join.)
History of Divitia, and Its Empires
(This is optional to read, I have an ‘important figures/planets/artifacts list at the bottom. And to be honest, most aren't mentioned in the history.)
Divitia
Divitia was built over a billion years ago by a god-like species called the Akin’Is, powerful psionic users who used crystals charged with psionic power to operate machines, store memories, and power weaponry. The planet of Divitia is solid for the first four kilometers, and below that it is created from a metal that has so far eluded science, but has the strength to support the heavy surface of the planet as well as contain the small singularity in the center of the planet that gives it its Earth-Like gravity. The miles of infrastructure between the surface of the planet and this core had been completely abandoned long before creatures developed on the surface and conquered the lands and seas. It is filled with many artifacts, many of which are yet to be discovered and even more yet to be understood. It is common belief that the ancient beings who built the planet left it several evolutionary steps ahead of where it normally would have began.
Divitia was built farther from its suns Earth found itself from sol however, and thusly has shorter years, ending up at roughly 378 days that are 28 hours long each. The planet orbits a pair of suns, one being a yellow dwarf like our sun and the other being a red dwarf, called Dis Major and Minor. Together the two put off enough heat and light that Divitia only has about half a degree Celsius lower temperatures than Earth, and the length of one day is based off of the larger yellow star, since its day length is more consistent than that of its counterpart.
Pre-Interstellar Age
What could be considered as the human-like race that inhabits most of Divitia today developed a little over fifty thousand years ago, and agriculture began to become commonplace near 30,000 years ago. As things go, society developed slowly until roughly 5000 years ago, where the first Akin’Is artifacts were discovered. At this time the technology was still of the level of water-wheels and swords, and the finding of post-interstellar technology had massive consequences. The ones who had found this tech, often referred to as the ‘Chosen’ by religious individuals, and as the ‘Founders’ by those who take a more academic approach to studying history.
With the Akin’Isian tech the Founders quickly rose to the most powerful kingdom on the planet, and began rapid expansion across the surface of the central continent of Serad. Most other Kingdoms couldn’t begin to stand up to weapons that tore rends through armies like they were nothing. However, the artifacts of the Akin’Is were extremely rare, and over-extension eventually caused the Kingdom of the Founders to collapse to only a few cities in a century-long war. Previous artifacts they had found were relics found in temples, and they had long run out of power from overuse, rendering them inert and useless, while other nations had managed to come upon other fabled artifacts. They had once been weapons used by the Akin’Is at their times, like the Psionic Weapons used in the current age, but each crystal could be used many more times before running out of charge.
At the end of the war, a massive excavation was started near the ruins of the formerly glorious capital, built at the bottom of a supermassive tower that reached beyond the clouds, called The Sanctum, which was long a place of worship and veneration of the great race that had built it..
As the excavation continued, descendants of the heroes and heroines that had used the Psionic Weapons during the Founder’s empire began to show signs of a sixth sense, and claimed to be able to look into a person and see a constellation within them, and these constellations seemed to correlate to their personalities. Since these individuals that were capable of this were the lords and ladies of the once-great Kingdom, it soon became normal for people to bring their children to them to have their ‘stars read’. This is the origin of Starsigns, and an average of one in twenty psionics can ‘see’ them. As the familial lines spread, it became common for every town to have their own star reader that newborns were brought to.
Not long after this practice became commonplace, the massive excavation for Akin’Is artifacts unearthed the bottom of the land, and the miners and workers of the site flowed into the installation inside. There were tens of hundreds of ancient artifacts inside this underground world, but many were sealed off by locks and clever mechanisms beyond the capabilities of people at the time to surpass. The ever growing worshippers of the Akin’Is declared the place a holy reliquary, and tried to prevent the King of the time from using it for war, attempts that ultimately failed.
The finding of these powerful relics and weapons lead to another great war that not only spanned the continent of Serad, but the one neighboring to the east, Castella, and to the south, Verdia. As these very successful wars waged on across these three massive continents, more excavations for the reliquary below the ground began. These projects quickly brought rapid technological advances, jumping from what had been swords and bows to guns and more advanced siege engines.
However, on these three continents, in the end, the Founders reigned supreme, as they had discovered the Akin’Is technology first, and had developed modern armor and psionically powered machinery and could manufacture basic Psionic guns, though they couldn’t hold charge like ancient Akin’Is weapons could. This gave them a massive upper hand when they began to assail the continent across the world, Ordius.
Little is still known about the five fruitless wars against Ordius, which had also been conquered by an ambition nation that had discovered and used Akin’Is technology to further their technology and strength. Both nations were a match for the other, and could never make any headway against the other on their home turfs. After a time, the Founders named themselves the Empire of Divitia, and the two mercenary guilds Ah’Kier and Dro’Kiyn formed in the heart of the empire, utilizing technology discovered by secret research groups that had been studying Akin’Is writings and implements. Utilizing first-generation active camouflage, and close-combat weapons that could warp space and time to rip their opponents apart, the two quickly became the go-to societies to handle domestic relations that had gone sour.
Naturally, the two massive and sprawling organizations fell into rivalries, and the Dro’Kiyn gradually moved to Ordius, and crushed the mercenarial society that had taken root there in a short but bloody interaction that could be called a war. Ever since, little has been recorded about the Dro’Kiyn, as the nation that inhabits Ordius still stands to this day, and holds its secrets close at hand.
After this, times became less eventful and a time of peace reigned. Technological advancement slowed significantly, as most of the Akin’Is reliquaries below the surface were still sealed away beyond reach. The Empire of Divitia went through several massive governmental reforms, ending with modern days Triumvirate of elected leaders, often those with ‘Dragon’ Starsigns. Many writers began to make their debut on the world’s stage, and three important books were written that lead the way into the Interstellar age and the philosophies held then.
The first of these books was the writings of the archpriest Felid S. Makereth, who wrote The Truth of Gods. This book brought about the idea that the Akin’Is themselves believed in many gods, and used their writings as well as images found in their temples to support this theory. The truth of this book was quickly realized and passed on, and within two centuries, most of the three continents now believed in the gods that the Akin’Is had sworn fealty to and worshipped.
The second was actually a story hidden in the reliquaries by the Akin’Is, and transcribed by a priest, who insisted it was dictated to him through a device he had found while worshipping in the reliquaries. It is called Fallen, and is a closely kept relic of the church. It supposedly held stories of Akin’Is heroes that fought valiantly against an enemy that was nigh impossible to defeat. While this book is the least important of the three, it is credited with providing indiviuals to serve as figureheads of the Akin’Is.
The third was a novel written by the commoner Allila Dasten, and was called The Stars’ Sky. It was written simply for people to enjoy reading it, and its amazing writing made it extremely popular. Eventually, some scholars ‘realized’ it was a message that they should look to the stars for their next lands to grow and spread, and maybe they would find more out there. This book is still a common read today, and is considered the book that started the Interstellar Age
The Interstellar Age
The Interstellar Age is actually considered to begin well before people had managed to reach the stars. In fact, it is considered to have begun once the first space programmes begun, which brought the first people of the Empire of Divitia to space, and to the Akin’Is space station Zephyr, one of twenty four such stations that orbit Divitia. Once the control room of the station was found, it was determined that it was capable to control the space-distorting shield around the planet that had prevented asteroids from striking the planet by destroying them before they hit the atmosphere.
Several ships were found in the hangar of this station and of several others, which quickly lead to the development of ships that could control themselves in space far better than anything they had been capable of before. This soon lead to artificial gravity as well as interstellar warp drives. Avilla Mccormick and Edward Halpern were the first to be sent beyond the solar system on the ship The Basilisk. Their mission had been a brief visit to the nearby star system Pi Luminae, however, due to a miscalculation, the two ended up then traveling to a star system far beyond the reach of faster than light communication at the time, something else developed due to the finding of Akin’Is ships.
These things lead to the rapid exploration of the Galaxy, and quickly advancements of technology allowing for easier exploration of these far away places. The Crew of The Basilisk was never found, but their ship was recently recovered and the logs of the crew found, chronicling what they had found. However, there were no bodies found, and the logs ended abruptly. Several theories have come up, but none have been successfully proven.
Several other planets that could hold life were discovered, though only one housed a race that was interstellar. This race went to war with the Divitians almost upon contact. This lead to the first war in space, which was a massive learning experience for those who had originated from Divitia, and lead to the militarization of ships that were sent to space, and they ultimately won this first contact war.
Soon, basic terraforming technology came about, and those of Divitia began interstellar expansionism, conquering almost two hundred solar systems in the course of two hundred and fifty years. This drastically affected the population of Divitia, but due to space ports forming up near the city built at the base of Sanctum, urbanization increased over time. Soon, agriculture was almost unheard of on Divitia itself, as it began mostly importing food from its now numerous colonies.
This expansion came to a slow halt over time, ending with the Empire of Divitia having control of almost two hundred and thirty seven different solar systems, all of which were interdependent for survival, as some of these planets still did not have much arable land even after being terraformed, and many others lacked enough of the necessary metals to build some types of machinery. Today it has reached the point where traveling between different colonies is the same as traveling around in a plane. Save it took an upwards of three days instead of mere hours.
At about this time the Dro’Kiyn started to become a major force in the main three continents again, despite the Ah’Kier having dominated the still-needed presence of exo-governmental operatives to handle possible rebellions and serve as operatives for other off-the-record activities. The Dro’Kiyn began instigating riots and rebellion, their goal seeming to be to topple the Triumvirate that still ruled the Empire of Divitia. The almost war-like crysis between to two still continues today, though it has become more shadow warfare than on the streets as of the past few years.
Two years after this conflict began, the interstellar race, now called Halycon, were discovered. Before any contact could be made, they began attack on the Divitian space ship that had discovered their small fleet orbiting a small planet called Viria, which was a failed colony planet now inhabited by a rapidly-growing jungle. Fortunately, in the small skirmish that happened over the planet, no lives on our side were lost, as the crew of the unfortunate vessel managed to get a distress signal out quick enough for Divitian ships to arrive and drive away the agressors.
Ever since, Halycon ships have become more and more common in Divitian territory, attacking planets at random, often hitting civilian targets particularly hard, but their technology is deftly inferior to Divitian. They used simple Gauss weaponry on their ships, instead of the advanced Psionic blasts and railguns that Divitian ships possess. Battles against the Halycon, though their fleets vastly outnumber Divitian ships, are still heavily one-sided. No Divitian fleet as lost to a Halycon fleet to date, and the military is ever growing.
Unfortunately, however, in the past seven years the conflict with the Halycon have continued, the enemy is still entirely unknown. Not a single body has been recovered, as their ships self destruct when the crew is killed, and the powered suits they wear on the surface disintegrate when breached. None of their colonies have been found either.
And that brings us to the present, where a newly built stealth frigate is near finally being released from Dry Dock around Divitia, and is still in the process of being crewed. This is the ship you will be operating from, and its sole mission is to find planets inhabited by Halycon and relay this information back to command so that it is possible to push back against the steadily more aggressive Halycon.

Viria: A failed colony that is now overrun by a jungle. Around this planet is where the Halycon were first discovered.
Halycon: A race of unknown origin that is at war with those from Divitia.
Starsigns:
Aardvark: People with the Aardvark Starsign tend to be fairly rational and logic minded. They spend their days searching out answers through tangible methods such as formulae or scientific experiments. They tend to have slightly above-average intelligence, and are not usually disposed to sports or physical activity. This Starsign is not typically linked with particular mental or physical disorders and most go into engineering or research fields.
Avian: People with the Avian Starsign tend to be quieter and have less social contacts than most others, pay good attention to detail, and are capable of making good split-second decisions. Most are disposed to sports or other activities that involve running, and are talented runners regardless, outpacing most others in speed, if not endurance. However, they also typically have weak, easier to break bones than most others and have the highest rates of sociopathy and other related disorders, as well as the unique strength of being resistant to psionic attacks. Most people with this Starsign go into the Military or are recruited into various ‘private army’ groups.
Centipede: People with the Centipede Starsign are almost exclusively mathematically-minded. During school years, they tend to shut out others and focus on their studies and becoming a better student, especially in mathematics and science, they are too preoccupied to be bothered with sports or other activities (save some clubs), and are generally far above average intelligence. It is not uncommon for people with the Centipede starsign to be sociopathic or lack empathy, and they typically go into research fields of various fascinations.
Crocodile: People with the Crocodile Starsign are often body-builders and have unusually high physical strength. They tend to not do as well during school, as they normally have below-average intelligence, but excel in sports that involve endurance and physical power. As they get older they get more and more focused on becoming physically stronger, and often end up buff and stronger than most others. They also tend to have better immune systems than other people. People with the Crocodile Starsign typically find themselves as bouncers, guards, police, and military grunts.
Dragon: People with the Dragon Starsign are usually highly social and highly charismatic, they find themselves at the top of the social ladder with ease, despite their shorter stature. In school their grades can vary, as can their intelligence, but they often find themselves in student governments and social clubs such as debate. They are perfect liers, highly extroverted, and often get anxiety when alone for too long. They typically find themselves shorter than most other subspecies, and typically look for jobs in the government or as social workers of some description.
Lizard: People with the Lizard Starsign tend to be cunning and sneaky, tending towards thievery and crime should tough times roll around. They would get caught for petty theft in school often if anyone was ever observant enough to catch them. Their grades and success tend to depend on if they feel as if they need to rise above the typical stereotypes of their Starsign. In personality, they can typically get away with posing as having an Avian Starsign. As adults, if they don’t go into a life of crime, they are capable of innumerable jobs.
Porcupine: People with the Porcupine Starsign are often shy, but very empathetic and socially observant, though they often don’t show it by never knowing quite what to say or do to make a person feel better. They are often physically taller than others, and can range in intelligent from brick to brilliant. Surprising amounts of these individuals are capable of basic psionics, which may be connected to their naturally high empathy. As adults, they tend towards priesthood, deskwork, or being a stay-at-home parent.
Spider: People with the Spider Starsign are ones to try to be the dominant force, whether in conversation or other endeavors. During any experience they focus almost solely on what they think the need to get what they are after, and almost ignore anything besides. They tend to be fairly intelligent and driven, but are more likely to have a fit if they don’t get what they’re after within the time period they expected to. They can go into a wide variety of fields of work and study, and when in the military they can be impressive soldiers, often going for the sole goal of surviving.
Wolf: People with the Wolf Starsign are often happy-go-lucky individuals who are far too loyal and trusting for their own good. They often find themselves happily near the bottom of the social ladder, but that doesn’t matter as they always have numerable friends they consider close. While it’s more than evident they have below average intelligence, they make it up in being able to cheer up all but the most sultry of party-poopers. Physically, they are often shorter than average but very lithe and energetic. They often find jobs as fast food workers, bus boys (Or girls), couriers, and other things similar.
Insect: People with the Insect Starsign are fairly boring individuals that are typically not that smart and very stubborn. While they overall are uncommon, they always find themselves at the bottom of the social ladder and serve as unskilled labourers or grunts in the army later in life.

Psionics
The ability for individuals to use Psionics is ranked based mostly on how many psionic crystals they can recharge at once, and that is often a good indicator of an individual’s capability. Oftentimes those who are highly ‘gifted’ (Rank 3+) go into studying the Akin’Is and their psionic technologies or as a priest teaching others the proper way to honor the long-dead race. Some of the abilities can be trained against, and numerous seem to be useless on the Halycon. The rankings and abilities are listed below. (Ones marked with an (H) do not affect Halycon, and (T) are ones that can be trained against.) For Player Characters, I won’t accept anyone above Rank 3, and I will not accept many psionic characters overall.

Rank 5:
Technology
1. Psionic guns: These guns have a limited charge based on number of psionic crystals, and use these crystals to fire rounds that use the target’s mind against itself.. The number of rounds that can be fired is typically one per crystal. However, when using the alternate firing mode, which fires shrapnel or bullets, one can get 5-8 rounds off using one crystal, depending on the size of the bullet. Due to the fact that these guns use Psionic energy, there is no recoil and gifted individuals can recharge them. These weapons tend to range from handgun size to ‘high-powered’ rifles, and from two to ten crystals. Both firing modes become less effective over larger distances. It typically takes two to three psionic shots to kill an untrained individual, one typically incapacitates.
2. Energy Shields: Shields that protect from various forms of harm have been in invented, and are in common use. These range from Hazard Shields, which keep out excess radiation and most airborne toxins, to shields that stop particular energys or solid matter from passing through.
3. Active Camouflage: The closest thing to cloaking available. Active camouflage warps light around the individual to make it difficult, if not impossible, to see them. It is most effective while standing still. Technology has only advanced up to ‘second gen’ active camouflage, which is serperior to first gen active camouflage. However, both are still commonplace in military operations.
4. Armor typically comes in four different sets with different benefits and drawbacks.
"Scar Plating” has the least physical protection, covering only the chest, head, and lower legs. The plates are designed so that the armor makes little to no sound while moving, and is often given to scouts. The armor also comes equipped with a small hazard shield emitter and a psionic gem set into it, an emergency oxygen mask and an air tank that gives about five minutes of air at one atmosphere of pressure (Estimated for a 200-pound, 6’0” human).
“Shadow Plating” comes equipped with a first gen active camouflage and a light shield emitter, it serves for the same purposes as “Scar” plating, but covers the entire body, providing reasonable protection should things get hairy, and has extra psionic gems on the arms and legs, giving four extra full-psionic shots and extra 20-32 ballistic rounds.
“Grey Plating” is moderately heavy armor which has a heavier shield than other armors, it provides a complete immunity to psionic weapons some protection against ballistic rounds as well. The armor is too heavy for most people with Avian Starsigns, as their bones are weaker and not built for large amounts of constant stress. It has eight extra crystals around the belt, providing eight extra psionic shots and 40-64 extra ballistic rounds. However, the armor no longer provides the psionic immunity if all crystals are depleted.
“Juggernaut” Armor is psionically powered armor, with a face mask and full body coverage. It has Fifteen extra psionic crystals, clips of metal for larger weapons’ , Psionic immunity, and physical strength boosts. These can only be worn by certain individuals, as the weight of the suit and the required training to use it is too intensive for many people. It has its own oxygen supply, a medkit, and an emergency shutdown feature that allows the wearer to exit quickly should the suit run out of power or become too damaged. This feature can be set to only activate from manual input.
5. Fied Medical kits consist of medi-gel spray that can quickly seal a wound, scissors, bandages, medical antibiotics, antacids, a folded piece of cloth, a splint, and some painkillers.

Important Names to Know
Divitia: The homeworld of the Divitian Empire, it is artificial, and beneath the surface is a massive abandoned structure that is considered a holy reliquary, though most of the technology inside is broken apart and studied.
The Akin’Is: A long extinct race that built Divitia and the satellite network around it.
Serad, Castella, Ordius, and Verdia: The Four continents on Divita, Serad, Castella, and Verdia are held by
Sanctum: The supermassive tower that is the center of the capital city on Divitia. It is higher than any mountain or cloud on the planet, and it is not uncommon for people to visit there. However, as of late only small groups of people why pay absurd amounts of money may take the long elevator ride to the top.
Sanctum City: The city built around the base of Sanctum. It serves as the capital of the Divitian empire and has a population of 6.3 million people.
Bastion: Sanctum’s sister tower, found in Ordius. It was discovered not long after the beginning of the Interstellar Age.
The Triumvirate: The government of Divitia. It is three highly charismatic individuals who were elected to rule over Divitia and its empire. The three current leaders are Larmar Sweet, who was born and raised on Divitia, Reggis Sanchez from the city colony Verdu, and Canard Calderon, who was elected for the first time last year and comes from the outer colony Fellethin. Elections for a particular leader comes every six years, with no term limits, and staggered so that every two years one is elected.
Ah’Kier: An organization often contracted by the Triumvirate to handle the government’s dirty work. Little is known about them except that they are highly trained and work in the shadows.
Dro’Kiyn: An organization similar to the Ah’Kier, but based in Ordius, and has been incentivizing anti-governmental activities on Divitia.
The Pre-Interstellar Age: Any time before the first trip to space and to the station Zephyr.
The Interstellar Age: The time after the trip to the station Zephyr, and is the current Age.
Zephyr Station: The first orbital station to be discovered and docked with around Divitia. It serves as the primary port for commercial non-cargo ships going to and from Divitia. It has a thriving permanent population of two thousand individuals.
The Kestral: One of the few frigates built for going behind enemy lines, and is the ship the characters of this RP call home.
Devel Station: A space station built by the people who now inhabit Divitia, it serves as the Dry-Dock for The Kestral
The Stars’ Sky: A book written by Alilla Dasten, it is what started what is known as the Interstellar Age. It is a fictional story that is still commonly read today.
The Truth of Gods: A book written by the Archbishop Felid S. Makereth that made and supported the claim that the Akin’Is, who were worshipped as gods at the time, worshipped gods of their own and who those gods were. Those gods are now also venerated.
Fallen: A Akin’Is tale transcribed by a priest. It tells of the Akin’Is heroes Sethid, who saved six million people in an epic fight against an unstoppable demon army, Gallif, who lead the construction of Divitia, and Deyna, a great admiral of the Akin’Is intergalactic fleets. This book is not for public viewing and is closely guarded by both the military and monks in a monastery hidden away.
Starsign: The constellations some psionics can ‘see’ inside people, they typically denote the kind of personality and traits an individual will have, and it is common practice to take newborns to those who can see people’s starsigns. All PCs are required to have one.
Psionics: Powers of the mind that allow individuals to interact with other’s minds and with the physical world without lifting a finger. Crystals that are able to store these energies are used to power almost everything in the world.

Rank 1:
- Can recharge 1-2 Psionic Crystals
- Common
- Increased Empathy (H)
- Can ‘sense’ people’s moods. (HT)
Rank 2:
- Can recharge 3-5 Psionic Crystals
- Can sense other creatures in a 25 meter range, within 2 meters of their location. (T)
- Increased Empathy (H)
- More accurately sense people’s moods (HT)
- Are resistant to blasts from Psionic Weapons
- Psionic Weaponry seems to be more effective when those of this rank and above use it
Rank 3:
- Can recharge 6 Psionic Crystals
- Greatly Increased Empathy, or none at all. (H)
- Can sense creatures farther away and more accurately. (T)
- Can get an idea of what weak-willed people are thinking. (HT)
- Are more vulnerable to blasts from Psionic Weapons (T)
- Can turn most close combat weapons into a single-charge psionic weapon.
- Can commune telepathically
- Moderately uncommon
Rank 4:
- Can recharge 7-10 Psionic Crystals
- Oftentimes needs to seclude self to stop from feeling the pain of those around him. (H)
- Can sense most creatures accurately enough to be able to pinpoint anyone within a quarter mile. (T)
- Can detect when people are talking telepathically. (HT)
- Can die from and can kill with a single blast from a psionic weapon (T)
- Can read minds of weak willed individuals and get a general sense of what normal people are thinking about. (HT)
- Can use their body to transfer a direct psionic attacks
- Claim to be able to ‘hear’ the Akin’Is when near Psionic Conduits
- Absurdly rare
Rank 5:
- Virtually unheard of, limits are unspecified.
Technology
