When one's only exposure is text and them using a pony pic it's easy to be confused... :/
But now that I think about it... *Bro*ny, I should have noticed sooner.

Though I'm bad at remembering someone's sex whose face I haven't seen in general.
I still will refer to people like Halo, ASTA and Rare as 'she' just out of natural habit even though I know they're male.
