Aeron Acantha and Artemis Dwyn do not look 15. Is there a reason your going to put on their bios? Artemis's explanation make since kinda. Just wondering, cause if you just had a hard time finding the right pic, I can totally go hunting if you want any help!! Finding OC pic to match descriptions/age is my favorite!! --This also goes for anyone else needing help finding a pic ---

No, I just like their pictures and I wanted young ish charries. I dont want to change them, but thank you. Anyway, most TV shows have people nearly double the age playing characters in their teens.
As with most pictures, these are a rough guide. I always hope people will use they imagination. Besides, if the gm doesn't like them, I already have 2 spare pictures but Artemis would have to change completely, which is what I'm already debating doing.

yeah but his family's been in america for what, 60 years or so? 3 generations? they'd be pretty westernized at that point. even if his parents were from china, if he was born in the states then he'd speak fluent, unaccented english. heck, even if he moved over as a young child that'd be the case.

Sixty years? Deng Xiaoping took power in 1978. Let's say his grandpa crossed the Pacific the moment Deng took power (impossible, as Shandong didn't enjoy the fruits of the guy's reforms until about a decade later), meaning that Ziya's dad would have been at least a teenager or a young man in order to have Ziya around ... this is post-Voldemort, so somewhere in the 90s depending on when exactly this is set. So he's more first generation ABC than second generation ABC, and the accent should be a lot stronger.

Families don't westernise that rapidly, especially when in the presence of other Chinese families and Chinatowns and places where one's native culture can flourish. Fluent, unaccented English is not something you'll get just because you're born in an English-speaking country, let alone moving over as a kid. You learn it from your parents and family. If they have an accent, so will you.

My accent's still around. So's a number of other Chinese fellows I know.

Here is my character. I had to rewrite this from scratch so I may have missed something the second time around. But I'd say this represents the character I have in mind about 98-99%

So, there are a couple of things with this. One, she needs to have one more elective. Two, at SWI, there are no thestrals or carriages and I have not decided if there is going to be a hat for deciding the houses. Thirdly, she seems to be a bit of a special snowflake what with the having traits of every house, witnessing death, her mom going insane, her dad becoming distant, and showing signs at a young age. It's too much. Limit it, please. Also, for the choice of her being a Rain Bird, I feel as if she will either be a Nolka Nari or a Azeban, not even close to being a Rain bird. If you want her to be a rain bird, then you might want to make her less sly and focus more on loyalty - which I read that she doesn't have much towards others other than family - and hardworking.

So, I want to remind everyone that Salem Witches' Institute is not as medieval-esque as Hogwarts and all the other Eruopean wizarding schools. The wizarding community is still pretty new compared to the British Ministry of Magic or the French's community. They have only been around for a small amount of time, since America had been "found" by Columbus. The American wizarding community is also closer to their muggle counterparts and are more ready to accept new age technology. Carriages aren't used, there is no castle - it is more of a Victorian boarding school - and, so far, I'm debating about having a wizarding hat considering that it is more European witch than anything else. Also, the houses are named as such due to having Native American influences and so I'm debating how much influence the Native Americans should have. Considering, in America, today, Native American names can be found anywhere in every state.

Also, if you guys want to do something, you may submit to me politicians over PM if you want. If not, I'll make more. I am not finished with all of the information yet, there is still the transportation - which I'm debating on having it every-man-for-themselves, considering that is how most American boarding schools or having a bus like the Knight bus be transportation, which in that case, there will be several and it will cross-country. There are no carriages to and from the school due to it being near the street and not having to ascend a hill or anything.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I want to make this highly interactive. I plan to make it where you guys can sumbit news articles and such other things in order to get you guys really involved in the world. However, school has started up again for me, so I will be updating the OOC at a slow pace right now because of immediately having to write a paper after coming back from spring break (I hate school). But I swear, I will not let this die. I will continue to badger you guys, and if this dies, I will revive it or renew it over and over and over again. Because I stayed up for three days straight working on this information. So, I hope you guys are in this for the long haul (:

EDIT: Also, I forgot to add wands to the CS. Here is a resource for wands, but don't go over the top. You cannot have an extremely rare/special wand core AND a special wood as well as having it rigid. It has to have balance. And anything listed as extremely dangerous, not used much, only found in pureblood families, or illegal, cannot be used.

I'm gonna be THAT GUY. I don't know your opinion of the information coming out of Pottermore itself but the link you posted really doesn't seem to have anything to do with it at all. It's your RP and if you prefer to use that information, I'll shut up and happily go along with it. It's a bunch of detail work anyway. But, I have to say I do prefer the descriptions, particularly of wand woods, from Pottermore. I feel like they live up better to the idea of "the wand chooses the wizard" and gives them more personality. The others just seem like "oh this wand is good at this type of magic" and that's about it.

Year 1. Typically speaking, there is no such thing as transferring in the Harry Potter world or choosing the school that you go to. If I remember correctly, the way it works is that the student will magically appear on the list of a school that they are closest to. However, for the sake of the players, I am allowing it for students to be from a different country and having chosen to come to a certain school. But, no, you will have to have been at the school since year 1.

I know that the information at the website is correct canonically, but however you want to choose it is up to you. I know that Ollivander's only uses Unicorn hair, Phoenix feathers, and Dragon heartstring, and I also know that the ingredients and woods come from the Ollivander's notes on the website. But like I said, it's up to you, I don't particularly care where it comes from, as long as it isn't like an oh-so-special wand that can destroy the universe or whatever. So, don't worry. I was just giving a resource 'cause I know that it's hard picking a wand and I personally like to pick what my character is skilled at and what they fail at due to their wands workings.

Sounds good, just checking. Little details I guess. Also as a semi-joking suggestion for transportation. How about a magical version of a hyperloop? Lol, but seriously that's quite a task considering the sheer size of the area the school covers. Asking everyone to make it themselves seems like the most reasonable way. Maybe whatever passes as the magical DOT has designated "highways" for brooms and flying vehicles to to stick to in order to lessen the chance of Muggles seeing them?

I am incredibly reluctant to allow Artemis to have an imaginary friend, however I will allow it as long as it is not over-done, over-dramatic, and you create a bullying situation that is not realistic and make it generally over the top. The personalities need work - there are too many positive personality traits than negative personality traits. In order to create a character, you need to give them a rough, negative personality to start with in order to have more character development throughout the plot. Or, at the very least, have a balance of positive and negative traits. Neither of your characters have this.

1-- One, she needs to have one more elective.

2-- Two, at SWI, there are no thestrals or carriages and I have not decided if there is going to be a hat for deciding the houses.

3-- Thirdly, she seems to be a bit of a special snowflake what with the having traits of every house, witnessing death, her mom going insane, her dad becoming distant, and showing signs at a young age. It's too much. Limit it, please.

4-- Also, for the choice of her being a Rain Bird, I feel as if she will either be a Nolka Nari or a Azeban, not even close to being a Rain bird. If you want her to be a rain bird, then you might want to make her less sly and focus more on loyalty - which I read that she doesn't have much towards others other than family - and hardworking.

1 -- Added

2 -- Fixed

3 --

"Having traits of every house" -- Read 4 below please

"witnessing death" - Deleted, since that was more just an explanation for seeing the thestrals

"her mom going insane" -- I just wanted one sad/dark/interesting family/life thing in there or then her whole life would have been obnoxiously perfect.

"her dad becoming distant" - Kind of what happens to a guy when the love of his life/wife is forever insane, grief/blame and so on.

"showing signs at a young age". - some wizards do and some dont, like some babies walk before others, some learn to talk fast. Thats all I meant by it.

4 -- I added more on to this, so everyone can comprehend what I was going for and meant. No one really fits perfectly and completely in one category, they just show more aptitude for one then others, or are more prone to acting and seeing things a certain way then another. And I have read/watch the books/movies, and have scoured the harry potter wikia (and pottermore) just to make sure on this. But during the sorting ceremony the child opinion/choice towards which house they end up in weight heavily on the decision. Like Harry being could have been Slytherin, Hermione could have been ravenclaw, and Luna is kinda of out of the box anyway. But I can change from Rain Bird to somthing else if you see a problem.
