I always find that playing the younger years grinds slowly because of the RP being tied into class work as it's primary focus.

Goddess the classroom environment is so dull because as a class it is confined to rules which limit any freedom of movement or expression. If any remember the books or movies then you'll remember that the class scene's were less than 20% of the scenes.

Playing as Older Students will mean that we must all assume that we know at least a little about those members of our own years and stand a good chance of either being friends or enemies

For my character sheet I always draft character connections for everyone I think my character would have a history with.

Yep so I suggest that we actually talk a bit if we're planning on being in the same year or house.
then we can talk about the shared history the characters would have. Classes and such. especially for owl and newt levels.

Hm...

Well, I think I'm going to use an old character, so he's going to be around Fourh Year or so...don't know yet. Definite Slytherin, and the heir to the Mal Thea household, one of the most powerful, if not most powerful family in France.

I actually prefer going for a 6th year rather than either a 5th or 7th exactly because you're not worrying yourself over any exam. Slytherin most likely, hybrid human as I've disclosed earlier.

Now, if being in 6th implies being alone, I might move up or down a year, sure.

@esterdi If you want I can be 6th as well, but I'd still be Ravenclaw.

It's fine, the character I have in mind is halfway ravenclaw-slytherin as far as personality is concerned and hangs around with both crowds.

Well that sounds excellent then. Though depending on their opinion of mixed a friendship might not work.

If anyone here knows of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, my character will be quite similar to that fanfic's Draco, albeit older.

Seems like everyones on the 6th year. I guess I'll be going with a 6th year griffindor. I'll probably make him a muggleborn too, and a very good quidditch keeper.

It seems like everyone's doing Slytherin as well, lol, so I'll go Gryffindor with you. Possibly a half-blood that got fucked early on in life, and is a bit tough due to that. Rather punch someone in the face, rather than duel. That sorta thing. Maybe a Seeker in Quidditch?

Ravenclaw here. Also mixed, half-n-half. Mother Muggle, father Wizard.

Glad to know I'm not the only Griffindor here. And yeah, that could work, our characters both in the team, they could be like best of buds with another one like James, Remus, and Sirius. And we can be like 'we're up to no good' sort of students most of the time.

I'm gonna be the vocal anti-quidditch bloke that thinks the game's stupid, badly construed, and boring.

Yep, I like that! Once the OOC is up, we can discuss it more, since we'll have the CSes. That sounds good?
