Kayla Kirby
[@Mr Allen J] Kayla liked the little lantern. It was really pretty to look at, and if she shook it enough, the light became noticeably bright and more white than green. She was really glad the teacher let her keep it. She held it by her side as she walked, right alongside her mostly empty book bag. She had actually been expecting to have been given a textbook or two, but the teacher didn’t seem to have any to give, or even any assignments beyond the pretty canister thingy. Oh well- Kayla reached in, and pulled out her schedule. She had a two hour gap between this class and her next one, Algebra. It was still way too early to be considering dinner, but she did like the sound of a late lunch. According to what the lady had said earlier, she could go into the building-within-a-building the others had been in the previous night to buy some food. The way to the central plaza garden place was pretty short, and she suspected it would be that way from pretty much anywhere in the building. A couple of the people in the class she’d just come from were there, as well as a bunch she hadn’t seen before. She climbed one of the rocks to get a better view, but didn’t see anyone she knew. She didn’t know very many people, but some part of her inside was hoping to see... something. Someone. She didn’t actually know what. It was really confusing... Kayla shook her head. Why was she looking for people? She was hungry, and wanted to get some food. She made her way to the restaurant she had been by before. She hadn’t actually been inside, but the front glass walls had been opened. Now, she was actually going to get something to eat. Inside, the lighting was dim, and the tables were crowded. She couldn’t see anyone she recognized in here, either. It looked like, however, that the booths in the back were- Oh! She recognized someone, the chubby Asian girl from Ruben’s class. She didn’t get to talk to her, even though she was on Kayla’s to-do list of talking to people. They seemed to share the same fashion sense, so she wanted to see if she could meet her. She was sitting all alone, so she thought she might be lonely- Perhaps she was in the same position Kayla was back in sixth grade? Kayla decided to take her chances, that’s what Anya did for her. She picked up a menu from the front podium thingy, and headed over to the table- It took a minute, thanks to the mass of people that were way taller than the national average, but she found it eventually, and slipped into the seat across from her target. She was apparently unnoticed, as the girl didn’t look up from the table. Kayla decided to speak up. “Hi, my name’s Kayla, we were in Professor Tarblatt’s class together. What’s your name?”
