What is a World in Revolution roleplay, and how does one participate?

well they are a historical roleplay based off a roleplay originally made in the paradox forums (as the game was based off their games such as the Victoria games) The game was really detailed with people sending in orders and getting replies from the GM and decisions controlled everything from the tax level to even the exact amount of troops a nation had it was all very accurate and interesting as it would go off in these interesting tangents and alternate histories but sadly they seemed to have disappeared from this forum.

Probably because of the immense amount of detail and work that seems to be required. You could always try and start one up.

I am interested. I might GM one. I love alt history. I am thinking French Revolution, or maybe height of imperialism. I would do cold war, but that seems to come up just a bit too much.
There are also fantasy, punk, and sic-fi (especially speculative) that could be fun.

I like to see WiR back up as well, but working out stats will be a extreme pain, unless we can find someone who is from WiR who ever did them.

well currently we have a volunteer GM and depending on what time period we could base most of the starting stuff off of the ingame information we have.

Ahhhh WiR.
Where Britain and France can be best buddies, Where Germany and Russia can team up against Austria, and where Brazil can openly threaten to stop trade agreements with Europe, all the while keeping a straight face.

I would give my left arm for a new one.

Several things have to happen before another WiR can start, namely:

1) We need to put aside our rose-tinted glasses and stop drinking the Kool-Aid. If we expect this to turn out just like the original 1861 that Outcast ran, we are just fooling ourselves.

2) More than one person (even two or three would probably be sliding by) is needed to run this game, let alone play it. We need to divide up the work between multiple people. There would have to be a private Google Docs file for the stats so that all the GM's can have access to it.

3) We need to take a lot (and I mean a lot) of the writing out of the hands of the GM's and give it to the "players". While it is fine if the GM's are responsible for war updates, the GM's should only need to post the results of the rolls for the orders and have the players write the text that describes the effects. This would help speed the updates along because the GM's only have to worry about the war updates, stats, and rolling for the orders.

4) We need to learn from the mistakes of the last versions of this game (besides the ones I have already listed). We should stay with the simplified stats (or when we make them, make them simple). Several of the other WiR games had some many stats that I could hardly imagine that producing those stats each round would not have been a nightmare. We need an infamy system that punishes players who are superaggressive or break treaties or do things that are harmful to the health of the game as a whole. Make other stats more useful (education, prestige, etc).

Also, for those who do not know what a WiR is, check this thread out.

[Volunteer GM]: We are working on all of those. Including myself, we have 3 GMs in a PM currently creating a stat system, most likely based of categories and traits. We are trying to heavily reduce numbers, and leave a creativity aspect.

Well, there is one on Paradox Interactive forum. Which means that if you want WiR, you go there.

It's not right to steal someone's idea, unless you ask the maker of WiR and he allows you to. If someone would steal your idea for a RP, would you get mad?

EDIT: Plus, most of the GMs haven't even played the real WiR. So unless they have played WiR before, this idea will easily die like the others.

If you still are going on with this idea, then go ahead. I am such that someone will declared war within the first turn.

Didn't you run a WiR but then quit without any explanation?

EDIT: I think it best to use another name if it isn't using the system that was originally used, to not get peoples panties in a twist.

There will be a different name, and we are most likely starting in 1763. We are currently deciding a map and playable nations, to which we will supply military, economical, cultural, governmental, beginning diplomatic, geographical, and other statistics
