"Could be," Kara shrugged. "Or the other girls killed everyone sent after them." She didn't really care either way. Even though she got along better with the girls on the streets than the boys, she wasn't looking for friends here. The cat-lady had given her a thorough look-over, but then just as easily dismissed her again. Cats were solitary, right? Not the alley cats , of course, but the proper big ones. Did something like that carry over into a hybrid as well? Kara could play well enough with others, but she wasn't even sure what kind of animal she came from. It couldn't be a wolf, she reasoned, or the semi-wild dogs wouldn't have hated her as much as they did. A slightly disturbing grin spread over the cat-lady's face and Kara mentally added a mark against forming an alliance with her. That was the same kind of grin Knives sometimes got, and she was terrifying. Kara wasn't an angel herself, and she'd messed people up pretty badly plenty of times, but never for fun.
