To be fair WiR on these forums has a tendency to die due to GM's being overwhelmed by the amount of stuff they have to do. I am, in many ways, the father of doing that.

However if you all need a player I'd gladly play a WiR for once.

I wouldn't mind doing this, not at all.

Edit: I wouldn't mind lending a helping hand either.

You are most definitely accepted. I am going to make a new Co-GM PM later today. If any contenders could post their willingness to aid, please do so within 24 hours.

Here are the major powers that will definitely be playable:
W. Eurasia-Based:

Dutch Republic
Kingdom of France
Great Britain
Dutch Republic
Spanish Empire
Portugese Empire
Russian Empire
Ottoman Empire

E. Eurasia-based

Qing Empire
Japanese Empire
Durrani Empire
Maratha Empire

We may add more minor nations that are sure to be on the upswing (I.e. Prussia), as well as some defaults for trader states (I.e. Italy). If somebody could give us an accurate and labeled map of the year 1763, much thanks is in order.

I think I am actually going to be moving everything to this thread. This is what I thought of for a finalized nation list. I will also be posting nation sheets that I need -your- help to fill out.

W. Eurasia-Based:

Dutch Republic
Kingdom of Prussia
Holy Roman Empire
Denmark-Norway
Kingdom of France
Great Britain
Dutch Republic
Spanish Empire
Portugese Empire
Russian Empire
Ottoman Empire

E. Eurasia-based

Qing Empire
Japanese Empire
Durrani Empire
Maratha Empire
Kingdom of Ayutthaya

16 sovereign nations to choose from. Thus, 16 players. If you have more to add, tell me! We are most likely going to need a 1:4 ratio of GMs to players. I may not play as a nation. In any case, if somebody can start getting flags, much thanks!

Thank you, Dedonus. If anyody could find a similar map of the Americas, Asia, and Africa, that would be ideal. The Ottoman Empire would also be nice to cover.

From some research, I have found denmark, norway, and sweden are all ruled by the same guy. Also, I will be adding Papal states, Kingdm of the Two Sicilies, and all those things around Italy (and Switzerland)

I need an opinion:
How long should each week be in the IC? If we go by 1 year each week, America won't exist for awhile . A decade per week means a bit too much nonstop action, although that might be a good thing. I definitely cannot go over a decade per week. I also did some calculations for where we want to be in a year:
1 year per week will take us to 1823, 2 ypw will take us to 1878, 3 ypw takes us to 1933, 4 ypw takes us to 1988, and 5 ypw takes us to exactly 2043. Personally, I think through WW2 in a year sounds best, but I want some more experienced opinions. I would be willing to go by decades, I will get a calculation up for that shortly.

EDIT: We can go through a millennium per year if we go by 17.875 years per week, and we will be at 2323 if we go by decades. 1 year brings us to 1823, but that seems a tad slow.

I feel that a lot can happen in a year (War, economic crashes, riots) and so that should be the very minimum. (1 week = 1 year)
Yes this means time will move slowly, but it will help for intelligent decisions and allow more players to participate as not everyone can be on the site 24/7.

I would say 3 years can be covered by a few posts, also that if a nation did not have much going on in a year, it could still have 3 years to sum up a general state of union, especially being that while the things mentioned would occur, they don't normally change that often, and it usually takes awhile for things to pass. I do not see how this would be able to facilitate 'intelligent' decisions. Would they be more micro than macro, yes, but you can go as micro as you want so long as the stats are in order. Also, whatever speed we pick, I expect at least one post per week.

If you all are confused as to how you want it to run. Go look at the Paradox Forums WiRs... Those are, of course, the most successful.

I think we should take it really slowly, leaves a lot of room to get comfortable and develop with the era. Also it could lead to interesting timelines.

Again, I am not seeing the argument for slow. Also, while I am inspired by other WiRs, I A) doubt their weekly speed is the sole factor of their success and B) Am not trying to simply mimick them. If you are expecting a duplicate, my apologies. Could somebody explain how slowness leads to these desired traits?

I see the argument for slow and I have to agree with it as alot can happen in a single year (wars can be lost or won in a matter of months rebellions can start up and die just as fast etc. etc.)

An example could be that if I wished to invade a city within an enemy border, before I can send another order, it would have been 3 years. This means wars would last decades and doesn't make sense with how things actually playout in war
