The women all seemed rather excited about whatever was about to happen, just as the rest of the crowd was. Stepping forward to see what was happening she watched as five women were walked into the arena before they were placed around a sword. Esmeralda felt her heart clench in her chest as she caught on to what was happening. She looked around the arena at the people chanting and applauding and felt her stomach twist. These people had be raised or taught to care little about a human's life... She wondered if they even cried when loved ones died if they were so ready to watch death for entertainment. She could hardly watch at the women fought and tried to distract herself by speaking to another woman, "Why... Why does this happen?" "The Pride Lands is overpopulated. It's just a way to deal with that," The woman replied candidly before going to cheer on whatever woman or lion she chose to cheer for. Esmeralda shook her head, killing five women pregnant or not weren't going to fix any kind of overpopulation. It would be a mere dent in an ever growing problem. She took a step back when the 'game' finished, the women all dead, and allowed for her place to be filled by other dancers eager to watch what ever atrocity was to come next. The pounding of feet and fighting almost drowned out the sounds of the cheering when the men began to fight. Esmeralda only caught glimpses of the massacre between the heads of the women in front of her. She was not weak of stomach, she had seen death before. She had killed before but she had never seen it happen and be cheered about. That was not the King's doing though, this had to have been engrained into the people long before he took the throne. This was a history, something people grew up watching and allowed for their hearts to harden at the display. She let out a small sigh when it all ended, glad to be allowed to leave the arena. She had seen enough death for today....
