Separ
I continued to jog down the path searching for the cloaked girl to no avail. Where is she? Where is she? Separ asked himself again and again as he made his way through the city. Only as he turned around the corner did he see a man on a horse in the distance, surrounded by what looked a horde of kobolds and goblins. Each of them looked much stronger than an ordinary member of their respective race, and the man on the horse seemed to give off an aura that was refined, and at the same time one of evil. Yes, Separ realized he must have been the one in charge, or at the very least one of the higher ups. Separ quickly hid behind the corner hoping no one had saw him, and as luck would have it, the group appeared to be focusing instead on the razing of a building. The utter chaos on the streets as panicked civillians fought and fled a losing battle also made it easier for Separ to remain unnoticed. Separ turned around realizing there was nothing he could do though. What good is a hero who dies trying to save others from a death, when he can't even save himself? Separ gritted his teeth as he remembered his master's words. Now was not the time to fight, but rather to flee. If there were less civillians or monsters, things would have been much easier. But the sheer chaos and number of people made it hard for him to do anything. As much as it pained him to do so, Separ knew his death would be in vain if he died, only to have the very people he was trying to save also die immediately after, and with this many people around, it was easily bound to happen. Separ turned around, as tears started to form in his eyes. I'm so weak, I can't even help those people over there. His jog started to turn into a sprint as he ran even harder, faster. I need to become stronger so I can protect others. He continued his pace, before hearing the sound of rattling bone and screams from goblins. Holding back his tears and wiping his eyes he ran towards the sound to see two skeletons and the cloaked girl fighting a group of enemies. Perfect, there wasn't nearly as much chaos here. Getting the girl to safety should be relatively simple, somewhat. Separ ran as fast as he could charging at the group. The skeletons seemed strong, but it was apparent they were fighting a losing battle. Focusing energy into his fists he felt his hands heat up slightly as they both started to glow a light orange color. Separ charged forward towards a lone kobold, preparing to strike at it. The kobold reacted just in time though, swinging his sword and knicking Separ in the torso. Luckily it was just a small scratch as Separ had avoided it for the most part, with fervor Separ punched the kobold aiming for its cheek. the attack singing the skin and knocking the kobold a few feet away. Separ then punched at a goblin once, twice, three times with a barrage aimed at its gut, killing the creature before elbowing another goblin in the face, shattering its teeth and creating a small puddle of blood that dribbled onto the ground. Turning to face the cloaked girl, Separ flashed her a small smile. "I'm glad you're safe, but don't run off like that, you had me worried." Only then did Separ's expression turn into a cringe as he punched another goblin only for it to take the blow and swing a mace at him. The mace struck Separ in the side, causing him to grunt in pain. Separ's hands faded of there orange glow for a moment, before restoring themselves as Separ attacked in retaliation, kneeing the goblin in the face and knocking him to the ground. "I don't suppose you have a plan on how to get out of here, do you?" The amount of enemies was much lower here in this area, but Separ knew they'd be overwhelmed if they stayed here for to long.
