I dunno. That kind of shoots the idea of a player-based economy that ended up developing in the foot pretty damn hard.

(It also enables some pretty sequence-breaking things in my head so I vote no to that as well).

I mean, Kayaba seemed to want to make the world of Aincrad as close to a low fantasy world as possible, and that's kind of breaking it in my eyes.
