Just to clear up my thought, I was thinking that we would do the public part being normal interaction and such, which would include the wondering about who has who, friends hanging out, normal classwork, etc.

However, the email portion (the class assignment) being done via PMing like this:

Person 1 ---PM's---> Cynder ---Forwards, omitting names---> Person 2 ---PM's---> Cynder ---Forwards, omitting names---> Person 1
